Chapter 24 I Don’t Care About Him
“Alright.” Freida said, “Take her away.”
Klein simply and coolly said goodbye to her, turned around, and left, as if he didn’t want to spend one more minute staying in the Duran’s house. Joanna hurried to follow him. They had walked to the door when Klein remembered something. He turned around and grabbed Renee’s arm, saying, “Are you out of your mind? Don’t you know to go with us?”
Renee said, “You’re stifling me again…”
Klein took a breath, saying, “What’s wrong with me stiffing you? If you don’t go now, believe it or not, I will beat you up. Stop wasting my time here.”
Joanna stopped Klein, saying, “Klein, stop it. You’ll scare Renee.”
Klein ignored her and pulled Renee out. Joanna bit her lips. She felt something was wrong with Klein. Klein seemed to care about Renee.

Renee was pushed all the way out by Klein. She was small while Klein was tall, so she was almost dragged forward. She whispered in her heart, “Klein’s not in the same league as Tristan. At least Tristan will hold me in his arms. Though Tristan has a rock–solid chest, making me feel uncomfortable, it’s much better than dragging forward like this.

Joanna went to help Renee up, asking, “Are you okay, Renee?”
“I’m fine.” Renee ignored Joanna’s hand but stood up on her own. She pressed her lips and said to Klein, “It’s okay if you feel mad, but do not take it out on me. I didn’t owe you anything.”
Her eyes were clear and clean. She looked at Klein without resentment nor admiration, saying, “It’s you who owes me something.”
“You…” Klein sneered. “We owe you something? How dare you say that? If it weren’t for us, you would have been in Peace Town…”
Renee said quietly, “Then send me back.”
“Do you think you could still go back?” Klein reacted as if he had heard a big joke. “You could never go back when you chose to return to Ampleshire for fame.”
After his words, he went into the car and slammed the door heavily.
Joanna knew why Klein was so angry. Freida already disliked Chloe and even made backhanded compliments to him today. How could Klein be in a good mood?
Though she was reluctant to admit it, Joanna felt the reason why Klein

“Why would I be angry with him?” Renee was confused, “I don’t care about him.”

She thought, “Don’t care about him? How couldn’t Renee care about what her biological brother thinks of her? Maybe she’s pissed off right now. It’s really hard for her to act like this.”
