Chapter 308 Move In With Me
When Vivian arrived at Northwood Corporation, she stepped out of the elevator. Just before she could sashay her way to Lucian’s office, she was stopped by David.
“Ms. Jacquez, I’ll bring you to the meeting room.”
She was unhappy with it.
“Does Mr. Northwood have any guests right now?”
She had visited Northwood Corporation a couple of times. But except for the first time when she came with her dad, she didn’t have the chance to enter his office.
wing по
She was always escorted to the meeting room. The meeting room had transparent glass walls, leaving room for privacy. It was an almost open space where everything could be seen clearly.
It’s going to be hard for her to create an intimate atmosphere between them.
“No,” David replied, “but Mr. Northwood usually meets with female clients in the meeting room. This has been our tradition, so I seek your kind understanding, Ms. Jacquez.”
*Since you said usually, that means there are exceptions too, right? If they can be exceptions, why can’t I?
Mr. Brown, are you targeting me intentionally?”
“The thing is, you always look like you’re gonna gobble Mr. Northwood up whenever you lay eyes on him,”
David thought.
But he didn’t say it out loud.
“Ms. Jacquez, there’s no such thing. The only exception is Mrs. Northwood, Mr. Northwood’s wife.”
Vivian’s gaze turned frosty. It’s Calista again. Why was she everywhere? David left after he led her into the
meeting room. Lucian didn’t make her wait long.
After they were done discussing business, Vivian rested her cheek on her hand and asked, “Mr.
Northwood, do you like Callie so much because of her face?”
Even though they were already divorced, Lucian always referred to Calista as his wife every single time. It
Wasn’t just him, even his employees did the same.
Lucien looked up and his gaze fell upon Vivian’s face. Her eyes were crystal clear and filled with curiosity
She appeared obedient and innocent.
idging by her looks, no one would associate her with maliciousness.
“Callie’s so pretty. Any man would fall for her.”
Lucian crossed his legs as he leaned back against the couch. He lowered his head to light a cigarette.
“I like her not because of her good looks.”
Well, he wasn’t lying at all. When he first met Calista, she just fought with Nikolette and she was slapped
by Zachary
Her face was as swollen as a pig’s head, and her hair was disheveled while her face was covered in dirt. There were also marks on her torn clothes and she looked like she just rolled in a mud pit.
How could he even tell whether she was beautiful?
The security wouldn’t let her in when she went to Riverside Manor to look for Paul. Lucian was the one
who brought her in. She didn’t even know who he was at that time.
But when she heard him say he could bring her to Paul, she got into his car without any guard.
Calista burst into tears once she was in the car. She was arguing defiantly with the security earlier on. She
sat by the car door, looking careful and timid as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Two wide streaks of tears on her dirty face made her look like an emoticon. Lucian smiled as he
reminisced. If she had met someone nasty, she would’ve been trafficked.
“I like her because of who she is..
The next second, he stabbed the burning cigarette butt on a metal doll ornament, hitting it right on the
face. That part turned black from the burn.
“But if anyone dares to harm her face, I’ll make sure that person will lose their face.”
After a brief moment of silence, Vivian rubbed her arm fearfully.
“Mr. Northwood, you scare me.”
Calista and Lucian were at the hospital. She followed him into the elevator.
When she returned home earlier, she happened to see Lucian who was waiting in the lobby of her.
- apartment.
He said he wanted to take her to the hospital to see someone, but he didn’t mention who they were going
to visit?
Seeing his grave expression and him not being in a great mood, Calista was worried that it had something to do with Selene’s heart. So she came in a hurry.
Who are we visitinge
Just as she asked, the elevator arrived at their floor. A large sign that said “Surgery” was the first thing that came to her sight when the door opened.
Lucian entered one of the wards swiftly. A young woman was sitting on the hospital bed and half of her
face was bandaged.
Calista frowned as she scrutinized her. She was positive that she didn’t know her.
“Mr. Northwood,” said the woman.
With this, Calista could vaguely guess her identity, but she wasn’t sure.
“Take off the bandage on your face,” Lucian ordered.
The woman did as she was told. Her wound was revealed after she removed the bandage. It ran from her cheekbone to her jaw, long and winding, looking quite grim.
The next words from Lucian confirmed her guess.
“She’s the server who drank with Vivian that night. The doctor said her wound was too long and too deep. No matter how much money you spend on it, the scar can’t be completely removed.”
Looking at the woman’s injury, Calista couldn’t imagine how this girl, who was still in her twenties, could
go on living with such a long scar.
She was still feeling down until they left the hospital,
“What are you trying to imply by bringing me here?”
“There were no witnesses, no surveillance footage and there were traces of slipping found on the slope of
the scene. The place where she fell had a protruding stone–everything pointed to the scenario of her
falling. What’s more, she was drunk last night and she couldn’t remember the details.”
“So?”
It’s just pure bad luck.”
Why are you telling me all this?”
Lucian stared interisely at her.
Today, Vivian asked me whether I like your face.”
Calista’s heart skipped a beat, Her hand immediately flew to her face.
“You’re a troublemaker, all you do is attract unwanted attention. She’s a fucking living example of an
obsessive lover. You have to stay away from me, get it?”
She couldn’t help but curse when she thought about the woman’s injury.
Although it may seem like an accident, and the victim also claimed that it was an accident, Vivian had
been surrounded by accidents like this throughout her life.
And those victims were usually prettier and more accomplished than her. When this happened too many
timies, it was evident that these were not accidents.
All those victims were forced to give in to the Jacquez family’s authority. Lucian chuckled.
“Is it also my fault that you were targeted in Apthon? Don’t you think it’s highly possible that Vivian came
to Capeton for you?”
Calista was at a loss for words. Could it be that the real culprit saw that the photos didn’t work on Lucian from deterring her, so they sent Vivian over to seduce him?
The Jacquez family was truly a den of vipers. None of them seemed like decent people. Since Vivian could be so vicious at such a young age, there’s no way that her parents could be any better.
Lucian leaned into her ear and said, “Move in with me.”
His voice was low and husky, which was easy to trigger certain sensual images in her mind…
