Chapter 232 A Battlefield
Cade raised a brow.
“Tch.”
They hadn’t personally participated in team–building activities before, they had seen them before. Games. that required teamwork to complete were always a necessary part of every team–building event.
“Isn’t this Paul’s first time participating in a group activity like this? It seems exciting. When I head back, I
should-
Before he could finish, Lucian suddenly walked away. He was so quick that Cade couldn’t stop him. Calista had initially planned to go through the motions. If the ring fell, then so be it. But her coworkers on the same team were nervously cheering them on.
“Hold on, don’t drop it. Just one more and we’re done.”
“Let’s go, Team A! You can do it, Team A! The prize depends on the two of you now! Steady!”
Inspired by their drive, Calista steeled herself and developed a newfound sense of pride in their teamwork.
She nervously aligned her straw with Paul’s as they cooperated to shift the keyring from her end to his. The straw was very soft. If they weren’t careful, the ring could easily snap it.
The harder it was, the more nervous she got. The weather was nice today. So, the air conditioning wasn’t switched on in the lobby. A layer of sweat had built up on her palms and her back.
However, as Calista placed all her focus on transferring the ring onto Paul’s straw, someone suddenly grabbed her arm. She was forcibly pulled back.
The metallic keyring fell to the floor with a resounding clink.
The commotion around them suddenly died down. It seemed as if someone had hit the pause button on the lively atmosphere. Everyone was staring at the two intruders in shock
Both of Calista’s arms were being held by two men. On her right was Lucian and on her left was Hector. The two men had different personalities and temperaments.
But, in that instant, their facial expressions were eerily similar. They both exuded a chilling aura. Paul
stood upright and removed the straw from his lips.
“We’re in the middle of a team bonding event here. Please leave. Otherwise, don’t blame me for calling.

To see a harem of women fighting over a man was the norm. Yet, that soap opera scenario was being played out by three men instead.
It felt like a high fantasy medieval setting where swords clashed and a single mistake could lead to
accidental injuries.
As the person at the center of attention, Calista did not find joy in the three men fighting for her affection. It was as if she were experiencing social death. She wanted to crawl into a hole.
The coach tactfully ushered the other employees to the adjacent hall to continue with the activities. Once the door shut behind them, only four individuals were left on the scene.
One of them was Cade, the brave soul who stayed behind to watch them. He had an attendant bring him
a small sofa. He also ordered some snacks.
It was Lucian who woke him up early that morning. Cade had assumed that it was for something urgent.
He hadn’t even had breakfast.
Little did he know that the long drive would have the men end up at this shabby vacation resort by chance. Now that they had their chance encounter, the situation had taken a bad turn.
Calista forcefully tugged her hands out of their grip. Her anger was palpable.
“We were just having a good time with the team building event. Why are you here to cause trouble?”
The last time Lucian showed up at the Baker Group, her coworkers had teased her for a good half of the
month. Now, with Hector added to the mix, she was bound to become the topic of discussion again.
Lucian’s lips curled up in a cold, mocking smile. His face was devoid of any expression as he sneered.
“Team building? What company would come up with such a vulgar game for team building? There’s a
straw now. But are you going to kiss next? Is that also part of your team building?”
Calista wanted to shut his mouth with her hand. If she had tools at hand, she would’ve stuffed something. into his mouth. Was that even a mouth? It was more like a nonsense–spewing cesspool.
There was at least seven inches between her and Paul. Who was kissing who? Paul frowned. His
expression was stormy.
“You’ve gone too far, Lucian.”
Lucian raised a brow. His anger reached its peak, giving rise to extreme disdain and contempt.
“That is between me and her. What business do you have to meddle in our affairs?”
Paul appeared gentle and generous on the surface. He had the demeanor of a gallant young man who couldn’t be bothered with the mundane.
In reality, he was a conniving fox. Lucian didn’t believe Paul had no hand in the planning of today’s team-
building event.
Hector was silent, appearing completely uninvolved. It was as if he hadn’t been the one to drag Calista away from Paul earlier. But inside, he was silently cheering the two men who looked ready to fight.
The seagull and fish could duke it out. His preferred outcome was to see them both so beat up that they would stay groveling on the floor. Paul narrowed his eyes.
“My employee is being harassed by irrelevant people. Of course, it’s my right to care. As for you, her ex- husband, what business do you have with her?”
Lucian’s expression was cold. After Paul finished, he grabbed Calista by her wrist and began to drag her toward the exit. His actions completely defied expectations, leaving everyone, including Calista, stunned.
She staggered to follow.
“Where are you taking me, Lucian?”
The man spoke through gritted teeth, “City Hall.”
