Chapter 228 She Offended Him
Calista was confused and asked, “What happened?*
“Maybe Lily offended some big shot in the circle. Someone uploaded a video at the Luminary Lounge. It is quite noisy, but the video is subtitled.”
Hector handed her the phone. Calista leaned in to see Lily hand the pill to Paul. The video had a clear shot, capturing her face, and the subtitle was displayed on the screen.
It clearly showed she was inciting Paul to drug Calista.
The video also included her bribing a waiter to tell a short, fat man that there was a hostess who was drugged in one of the hotel rooms upstairs.
This was illegal. After all, a hostess’s job was merely to entertain the guests and not sleep with them.
The person who made the post was able to present the story clearly, making it look like Lily’s scheme backfired. She had drugged someone, only to drink it herself accidentally.
People online who had been scolding Calista immediately shifted their perspective and criticized Lily.
“Oh my God, so this is the truth? How could she still have the face to complain online?”
“Some people just make stuff up, but she tried to set someone up, drug them, and get a man to sleep with her. That’s so horrible. Couldn’t she at least find someone good–looking? What’s up with that short and fat
guy?”
“How can someone like this become a celebrity? She should quit dancing!”
“Lily, you stupid and vicious freak, just leave!”
Lily glared at the screen with bloodshot eyes. The situation had turned against her, and now she was the
one being condemned by everyone.
“Didn’t we already have someone to take down the news? Why is it still available? Those people we paid
can’t even do this right! I have surveillance footage of Calista drugging me. Send it out now,” She yelled at
her manager.
She had developed the habit of wearing a camera on her clothes after being taken advantage of in the
past, not expecting it would come in handy this time.
Her manager replied irritably, “What’s the use? You started this, and she is trying to defend herself. Aside
from the ‘holier–than–thou‘ crowd, others would probably cheer when they see this.”
Now he undwstood why Queenie had broken off her contract regálu
Some must be behind this! It would have been easy to take this down. Aren’t you involved with Mr. Northwood Call him and ask for his help.”
Lly asked exasperatedly, “Isn’t there any other way? I can pay.”
“Money How much money do you have? Would it be more than what these people were paid? You’ve offended someone, and now they’re messing with you. Do you think you’re some big shot? You drugging some girl wouldn’t have drawn such attention!”
He truly wondered if she was empty–headed. Under his imposing gaze, Lily called Lucian’s private number.
Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable.”
Her manager had heard it
it doesn’t go through try a few more times.”
Lily tried a few more times to no avail. The manager snatched her phone, entered the number into his phone, and dialed. He was able to get through with his number.
His face darkened and he hung up before Lucian could answer.
“It’s not that the call can’t get through. You’ve been blocked.”
Lucian had made his attitude clear. He didn’t want to get on Lucian’s bad side by talking to him about
Lily Lily’s face turned ashen.
“That’s impossible. He wouldn’t do this to me.”
She grabbed the manager’s phone and dialed the same number. It connected immediately.
Her heart pounded. She prayed that Lucian wouldn’t answer to spare her embarrassment, yet hoped he would because she couldn’t think of anyone else who could help.
As she was torn between these emotions, Lucian’s deep, indifferent voice came through the phone, “Who
is this?”
“Lucian, I broke my phone just now. I’m borrowing my manager’s phone. Have you seen the news online? These people are making up stories for views. I think someone’s mad at me, and I don’t know how to stop
the news Could you help me take down the news?”
She hesitated, especially under the intense gaze of the manager. Lucian remained silent. Both Lily and

As the atmosphere tensed up, Lucian finally spoke, “Have you ever thought that you may have offended.
Π
Compared to Lily’s gloomy mood, Calista was much more relaxed as she didn’t have to face the fans who fervently defended their idol. Hector leaned in and noticed her phone was different.
“Did you change your phone?
“Sort of”
Her phone had been thrown away. This one was bought by Mr. Wilson the next day. Everything was
installed, and she hadn’t paid for
aid for it yet
She transferred the money to him at the market price, with a message attached, “For the phone.”
A few seconds later, the money was returned.
Lucian replied, “Return it in person.”
Calista sent him another message.
“Never mind then, consider it as compensation for the divorce. So when people ask me how much I got. from the divorce, I won’t have to say I left with nothing and embarrass you.”
Lucian didn’t respond any further. She presumed he didn’t know what to say.
Selena was playing with her grand–nephew in the Notre Garden, feeling down and wondering when she would be able to hold her grandson.
Her sister–in–law approached with her phone.
“Selena, Calista is already in a new relationship. Isn’t Lucian nervous?”
“Who told you that? Calista is currently focusing on her work. She holds several positions; she doesn’t have time for a relationship.”
Her sister–in–law played a video.
“Their relationship is already public. They would be meeting the marriage and having talks about marriage
soon.”
Selena’s heart skipped a beat. She leaned in to look, initially focusing on the intimate posture between the two in the video.
But the more she watched, the more she felt something was wrong, and her face darkened. She knew that troublemaker Lily wouldn’t stay quiet, and she was right.
Her sister–in–law thought Selena was upset because Calista was involved with another man not long after being divorced. It was obvious that they were involved while she was married.
“I mentioned to you about my niece. She is beautiful and has a great figure, plus she works in an international company. How about we arrange for her to meet Lucian one day? I guarantee she’s incomparable to those wild girls. If it works out, it would be a joyous occasion for both our families.”
