Chapter 7
Every fiber of my being protested with what he said. Before I could even say anything, darkness swarmed around us. The sensation was a cold, brutal, touch of my skin that made me shiver. I was in his arms and the next thing I realized, we were already back in the house.
Even with my weak state, I thrashed against his hold and he put me down while rolling his eyes.
1 faced him but the movement was too sudden for my wounds that I winced in pain. The wound on my leg could have sent me cursing but I bit my tongue and glared at Lance instead. Directing every bit of my frustrations to him.
“Stay away from me,” I spat. My words contained enough venom but of course, it did nothing on him. He just stuffed his hands back into his perfectly tailored suit.
He angled his head to the side as he watched me. He didn’t look like he was amused by what happened. I could see his eyes scanning me, as though noting my wounds. I was still healing painfully slowly and it’s getting frustrating. My blood stained the immaculate wooden floor of his house but his gaze remained fixed on my wounds.
“You’re going to die at this rate, little wolf, he said. He then crouched in front of me and let out a feline smile. “I can help you stop that.”
“Fuck you,” I hissed. Spitting those words took every effort I had left. My breathing has become too labored and talking without panting has become so difficult. I started feeling chills not because of hist cold presence but because I felt feverish. I have never experienced this kind of thing before. I normally heal quite fast but for some reason, not tonight.
He waved a dismissive hand. “Such wicked little mouth you have.”
“This is all your fault,” I spat. “Give Violet back.”
He played his tongue inside his mouth as he stared at my face. There was nothing there but faint
amusement.
“I’m afraid your slow healing has got nothing to do with your wolf asleep. The wolves you fought in the woods, the Midnight pack, are one of the most dangerous packs. Their bites contain venoms enough to kill other wolves.”
I think I might have frozen on the spot. I stared at him. He didn’t look like he was kidding. In addition, my body felt like it was being burned from the inside. I was poisoned.
He grinned. “You catch up pretty quickly,” he said. “Your wounds are not healing. You’re losing a lot of blood. You feel like you’re being burned from the inside. You’re dying, little wolf and you know it.”
Back in the woods, the idea of dying didn’t sound so bad. Maybe it’s not a bad idea at all. Maybe I am better off dead–
I’m curing you, he announced. I know he read what was going on inside my head but dying sounds. better than being with this man. I will not give him the satisfaction of having me and willing me to do his bidding

I wasn’t able to continue what I was going to say when suddenly, I was unable to move. It felt like I’d been pinned by an invisible force and thrashing against it would just be a futile effort.
Lance fixed the cuffs of his suit. He then proceeded to unbutton his coat and the shirt inside it, revealing a glimpse of the tattoos on his chest. Even in the state of dying, my traitorous mind.
wondered what the rest of his tattoo looked like and where it ended. I gave myself a cold reprimand and I saw him smirk.

Chapter 7
I swallowed hard when I saw the tendrils of his magic seeping out of him. They looked like shadows dancing around him and even as I hate to admit it, they looked majestic. The tendrils of shadows started to wrap themselves around my wrists and my ankles, making it even more impossible to
move.
They weren’t too tight to hurt but they were certainly uncomfortable. Bile rose to my as I saw
thro him looming over me. He flicked his wrist and the surroundings blurred only for a short second before I felt myself fall onto the wooden floor of my chamber.
“What the hell are you trying to do?” I asked, fighting the trembling of my voice. I hated the fact that I was powerless and I couldn’t even fight back. I hated those wolves who made me like this. I hate this man to the core.
I made sure to make the feeling of hatred intense enough that I saw him pause for a bit. I know he could see my thoughts and I know he felt what I felt. I glared at him, determined to let him know that I hated him.

He looked at me for a beat longer before letting out a soft chuckle. He still crouched in front of me and his shadows forced me to sit upright. My body screamed in pain but they were gone instant. Whether it was his doing or not, I don’t care.
“Look at you glaring at me like I made your life so miserable,” he said. His fingers were cold as they touched my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. “I wasn’t the one who rejected you, little wolf. I was the one who saved you.”
“You did not save me. You were about to burn me alive, weren’t you?”
A smile curved his lips and if it were another circumstance, I would have swooned at how dashing he
was.
“Ah, that. It was the bayou’s wolves‘ rules. You know it was one of the rules between packs. If you belonged to any pack, I would have given you a fair trial.”
“Are you saying that all of this was my fault?” I clenched my fist. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to just punch his annoyingly handsome face.
He chuckled as though he took my last thought as a compliment. “It’s not your fault. It’s your ex–mate’s fault.” He angled his head and gingerly pinched my chin. “He toyed with you and threw you away like how one would discard worthless garbage. You have a lot of anger directed towards me when in fact it should be Harold you should be furious about.”
I swallowed. I am indeed furious. I am furious at everyone in my pack. I am furious with my Harold.. My sister. My family. I couldn’t believe they would just take everything away from me like that.
“Use that hatred, little wolf. Prove to them that they made a mistake. They see you as a weak one that’s why it’s easy for them to trample on you like that. You wouldn’t want that to happen again. would you? You are strong, Eleanor. You killed one of the warrior wolves from the Bayou and killed another two from the Midnight Pack. That tells something.”
I looked at him. He was smiling at me—the kind of smile that shouts temptations and all things sinful. He was the strongest Alpha that ever existed in the continent of Massera, making him the Alpha king. He has several packs under his command—the ones in the bayou and the ones in the woods are just two of them. It would take an insane amount of authority to lead several packs. Undoubtedly, he’s a strong Alpha and he’s telling me that I am strong. Praising me for killing wolves.
This man is all sorts of wrong and I shouldn’t believe whatever he says and yet…I couldn’t help but want to hear more of his praises.
“With enough training, I believe you can be stronger. You can show your pack their mistake. Show them what they have done. Punish them for what they did.”
I blinked at the shadows dancing around him. They were dark as the night and as dangerous as the monsters that lurked behind it.

Chapter 7
“You’re not…inside my head and manipulating me, right?” The words felt foreign in my mouth.
He let out another chuckle and I shivered as his fingers caressed my face. “I don’t need to do that, little wolf. Deep down, you know you agree with what I am saying. Why not embrace it?”
Embracing hatred was not something other people would tell her to dut from Lance’s lips, it all sounded right.
“I want to show them they made a mistake. I want to show them that they should not have made a fool out of me
“That’s it,” he said. The delight in his voice kept me going.
“I want to show them that I can be strong and that I can survive without them.”
“Now that’s a good girl,” he muttered and every fiber of my being curled at the compliment. I met his gaze—stormy and delighted.
I was about to say something more when my throat contracted and I started to vomit blood. My wounds have started feeling numb and yet every part of my body is burning.
“The poison has already spread inside you. Make a choice, little wolf. Would you let me heal you or are you still considering dying?”
This time, the thought of dying didn’t sound so appealing. With a new motivation, I started feeling
motivated to live.
Perhaps he felt that motivation from me as well and his grin was wider than the ones I’d seen him wear before.
“Very well,” he said and the tendrils of shadows keeping me uptight disappeared. I was about to fall back to the floor when his arm wrapped around my waist and another at the back of my shoulders.
“Take this as my punishment and my help.”
His hand tilted my head to the side and he shoved the hair covering my delicate neck.
“Brace yourself. For tonight is the night I am claiming you,” he said.
Before I could even form a response, I felt him lean closer. I felt his warm breath against my neck and the next thing I knew, his fangs were buried deep in my skin.
A cry came out of me. A cry of pain. But then as it went on, a different sensation started to bud and I found my hands gripping his suit tighter.
“L–Lance–
He started sucking my neck and I gasped as I closed my eyes and felt every nerve endings on my body on fire. Not the unpleasant kind of feeling but rather, something forbidden.
