Lily stood speechless on the spot. She stood there, lost in thought for a long time
The next few days, Calista worked at the studio during the day and repaired Lily’s painting during the night. She slept only six hours a day and often had to skip meals
One evening, she received a call from Yara.
Before Calista could say anything, she heard angry curses from the other end of the line.

Just then, a call from the lawyer came in Calista instinctively frowned when she saw Timothy’s
name on the screen. She quickly informed Zara and then ended the call.
“Mr Howard,” she answered.
“Mrs. Northwood, I apologize for calling at this late hour,” Timothy’s voice sounded distant. “Mr.
Northwood hopes you can repay that debt within this month.”
The sudden news felt like an unexpected bombshell to Calista. It was around the middle of the
month, and she couldn’t come up with three million dollars in just half a month. Lucian was doing
this on purpose!
She let out a frustrated laugh. “What if I can’t pay it back on time?”
“Then it will be considered a loan to you, subject to the bank’s interest rate for late payments.
The monthly interest on three million dollars was a massive expense for her!
Calista remained silent. Timothy conveyed Lucian’s message to her. After the call ended, she
dialed Lucian’s number to learn about his plans.
The ringtone rang for a while before it was abruptly ended.
Calista ground her teeth out of frustration. She knew this could be a serious matter. She looked at
the calendar worriedly. Suddenly, she noticed a particular date. Calista’s mind started to race.
The next day, she arranged to meet Yara for a shopping spree at a specific destination. It was a
boutique selling evening gowns.

“When did you start wearing an evening gown?” Yara asked, feeling puzzled.

Calista nodded in agreement. She picked on a dark green evening gown. “What do you think of this
one? Madam Selena has fair skin and a good shape. She’s well–maintained. This fitted dress suits
her perfectly.”
Yara took the dress and examined it. “It’s nice. It suits her…”
Yara hadn’t even finished her sentence when a hand reached over and snatched the evening gown
from her.
“Could you please wrap this up for me?” The woman requested.
“Hey! We had our eye on this dress. What’s wrong with you?” Yara began to say. She looked at the
woman who snatched the dress and began to laugh.
“No wonder. The homewrecker is here. You’re used to stealing, aren’t you?”
Queenie was the one taking the dress, with Lily standing beside her. They were inseparable from
each other.
“Ms. Quinn, I suggest you speak carefully. I can sue you for defamation.” Lily shot a disdainful look
at Yara. Her expression radiated arrogance. “You haven’t paid for it, so it’s not stealing from you.
But now that I’ve bought it, it’s mine.”
The statement carried a hidden meaning. It was unclear whether Lily was referring to the evening
gown or Lucian.
Calista was about to speak when Yara abruptly snatched the dress and handed it to the shop
assistant. She instructed, “Please wrap it up for us. We’re purchasing it.”
Each evening gown in this shop was an exclusive designer piece. Every design had only one piece
available. The shop assistant accepted the dress but didn’t know what to do.

Calista frowned. She wondered how Lily learned about her situation. Had Lucian told her about the three million dollar debt?
Just then, Calista pulled out her credit card. She had the intention to purchase the evening gown for Selena. “Please proceed with the purchase.”
Lily’s expression changed as she realized Calista was genuinely ready to pay. “You don’t have to make a fuss about money just to outdo me.”
Calista smiled faintly. “I’m not the one starting a fight over money.” After all, Lily was the one who suddenly raised the bid.
Yara wasn’t one to be pushed around. She pulled Calista toward the cashier. As they passed Lily, Yara purposely bumped into her shoulder as a warning.
Lily cried out in pain. She stumbled and fell to the ground. She was clutching her back. She bit her lip. She appeared to be in excruciating pain.
Queenie’s expression changed drastically. She raised her hand and slapped Yara across the face.” Do you know how important her well–being is? Who do you think you are? How dare you push her!”
Lily was Queenie’s primary source of income. God knew how valuable Lily had been to her during this period. She had even postponed her dance practice due to all the recent incidents.
Yara wasn’t someone who would tolerate insults. She slapped Queenie. “Who do you think you
are? Playing the victim now, huh? Let me show you the consequences of being a homewrecker!”
While speaking, Yara slapped Lily, who was on the ground.
