Chapter 301 You’ve Softened Up
Calista stood still. She didn’t dare to push Lucian’s hand away. She was worried that the loose towel he
wrapped around his waist would fall once she struggled away from him.
She was only 25, and the last thing she would crave was a man’s naked body,
Lucian was taller than she was. As they were in a very intimate position now, when he lowered his head,
the water on his chin dripped on her.
It’s already May. She’s not wearing a lot of clothes, and she could feel the wet clothes glued to her body.
Calista hated this feeling.
She said reproachfully, “David said you’re dying and he can’t come right now, so I came. Just in case you
end up dead at home.”
She thought of the housekeeper who quit and remarked in disdain, “You’re living in such a horrible place
alone, like a lone ghost. If anything happened to you, no one would even know after your body decayed.
Lucian smiled, and deep chuckles resonated from his chest as he saw how defiant she was.
“Was it David who was worried about me dying at home, or was it you?”
Calista went silent for a few seconds.
“Me.”
She admitted because she knew she couldn’t hide this from him. If it wasn’t for her worrying about his
safety, she wouldn’t have headed over to his place at the last minute.
Lucian’s heart skipped a beat as he met with her serious gaze. All his blood gushed into one place.
Calista smiled and continued, “Aunty Selena can’t handle it if anything happens to you. She’s getting older and her health isn’t in tip–top condition as well. Hire another housekeeper if the previous one quit.”
Although the housekeeper wouldn’t be staying, at least they could come here once a day. They would be the first to find out if anything unusual happened.
There were bodyguards around at Everglade Manor, but they wouldn’t enter the mansion without ordering them to do so.
Lucian’s smile became more visible, although there wasn’t a single trace of joy in his eyes. Even his eyes, which were glistening earlier on when Calista admitted that she was worried about him; dimmed,
Calle
The soft lights, their being alone together, the intriguing scent of body wash and shampoo lingering in the
air, and the silence that hung in the air.
Everything made the dubious atmosphere more evident than ever.
Lucian’s hand fell on Calista’s face as he said lovingly, “You’ve softened up.”
If it was when they just got divorced, she wouldn’t even attend his funeral, let alone come and check on
him whether he was dead.
Calista was dazed and frustrated at the same time. Maybe she wasn’t used to Lucian’s behavior, or maybe he guessed her thoughts correctly, she couldn’t react in time when he leaned into her.
When she finally regained her senses and attempted to avoid him, it was already too late. Lucian’s kiss
landed on her lips, blocking whatever words she wanted to say.
This kiss wasn’t as rushed as the previous one. It wasn’t that assertive as well. Instead, the kiss was a lot
like his demeanor–slow and steady.
He smooched her lips and the tip of her tongue gently as if he were savoring the taste of her lips.
Although it didn’t seem right to describe the kiss this way, this was the only thing that popped into
Calista’s mind at that moment.
However, she was quick enough to realize that this kiss was camouflaged to seem gentle on the surface.
This gentle kiss was to confine his intense desire to have her entirely to himself.
There was only a thin line between him losing it and being gentle with her. If the line was crossed, she
would have to face the extreme opposite.
Calista was taken aback by the sudden kiss that she forgot to breathe. She was running out of breath, so
she pushed Lucian’s shoulders while being fazed, struggling to push him away.
Initially, she wanted to push his chest away, as it was hard for her to exert force on his shoulders because
he was too tall.
But he held her in such a tight embrace, that there wasn’t even a single gap between them. In the end, she resolved by pushing against his shoulders after several attempts.
The kiss didn’t last too long. Lucian let go of her promptly. He was looking rather flustered. He backed away a bit, but he didn’t move too far away.
“Are you hurt?” he asked in a hoarse and deep voice.
He smelled a blood–tinged scent when Calista pushed him away earlier on. The scent was very faint.
Lucian was looking at Calista sternly, Immediately, her thoughts, which were already muddled, were leu by him again. She even forgot the fact that he kissed her without her consent again.
She lifted her hand subconsciously. Her elbow was accidentally injured when she was knocked over by Thomas today. A scab was already forming over the wound
However, it started bleeding again when she was pushing Lucian away earlier on.
“I accidentally knocked into..
Her words halted in her throat when she finally came to realize why this bastard was frustrated earlier on This reminded Calista of her yet–to–be–released anger.
“If you were to be quieter, I probably wouldn’t be constantly reminded of the fact that you’re a ten out of
ten but have zero skills.”
She thought Lucian would be furious and told her to get out instead. Since it’s normal for guys to be
concerned about this matter.
It’s no longer a fact that’s related to their body functions, it’s about their ego. Calista wasn’t even afraid since she knew that he couldn’t even get hard.
She finally had a chance to insult him without having to worry about the consequences. Moreover, they were at Everglade Manor.
Looking at the familiar interior, everywhere her gaze lay upon reminded her of how lonely she used to be
She was merciless with her insults.
But she underestimated how thick–faced Lucian was. After his intentions were revealed, he didn’t even
bother to cover it up.
“Are you referring to me, or him?”
“Is there any difference between the both of you?”
“There is a difference. One of them can control their urges rationally, the other one can’t.”
Calista was dumbfounded. She was probably so mad to the point that she forgot she wasn’t at her house
and she could’ve just left at any time.
But again, if it wasn’t for her not being her usual self, she wouldn’t be responding to Lucian and discussing
such topics with him.
“Are you unhappy?”
Lucian frowned, looking quite serious. Based on his expression, one would think he was probably discussing some serious academic questions.
Seeing how Calista wasn’t responding, he put his hand on his towel. Calista acted faster than her thoughts. She pressed on his hands, a
“What are you trying to do?” There’s no way that he wanted to take off the towel and show it to her, right?
“Seeing how disappointed you were earlier on, I thought you wanted to talk to him.”
“What a pervert!”
Calista was outraged. She flung her bag and hit him with it.
After hitting him, it finally came to her mind that she was already divorced from Lucian, and she no longer lived here. She glared at him viciously and turned away.
Lucian grabbed her hand and pulled her in. He was grabbing onto her injured hand, but he avoided her
wound.
“What are
you doing? Let me go!”
Calista’s bag once again flew to his back. She yearned to hit this asshole to this death, but her bag was
soft.

The bag was for decorative purposes and there weren’t a lot of things in it. To Lucian, nothing when he was hit by the bag. Lucian didn’t budge an inch.
He said sternly, “What do you think I’m going to do in this situation?”
