You’r Gonna Miss Me When I’M Gone Chapter 175

Chapter 175

A Slap to Shut You Up

Lily was eager in her movements. Their lips were just about to touch when Lucian stopped her

She didn’t press on Her pride would not allow her to continue to cling to him so shamelessly now that he had rejected her advances.

The courage brought about by the alcohol only lasted for a moment. The haze in her eyes faded away as she regained clarity. She smiled deprecatingly and watched Lucian who was inches away from her face.

“I won’t ever allow you to be with her.”

He pushed her off and left to the kitchen to fetch her a cold bottle of water. He tossed it to her. She shivered from the cold and instinctively tossed it away.

“Awake yet?”

She said nothing in response.

“Go to sleep.”

Calista had planned to sleep in on New Year’s Day. But a call from Macy early that morning had

woken her up.

“Can I help you, Macy?”

Macy sounded frazzled.

“Madam Selena collapsed, Ma’am. Do you remember where you put away her medicine?

Selena’s medical reports stated that she had a heart condition. But she hadn’t had any significant

health issues in a while.

That was why the household staff gradually became less vigilant. They focus mainly on her diet.

No one expected her to suddenly pass out.

Calista scrambled to sit up. Her drowsiness left her in an instant from the scare she received.

She hastily put on her clothes and answered, “The cabinet by the bedside. It’s the bottom drawer.”

Hasn’t Mom been doing fine? Why did she suddenly collapse?”

Umm

Macy hesitated and didn’t provide specific reasonThenCalista heard loud bang from the receiver. It was as if the woman had dropped the phone. The call then disconnected.

She knew Macythe doctors, Henry and Lucian were present at the Stansend Manor. Butshe was still worried. She freshened up after getting out of bed and rushed over.

By the time she arrived, Selena had regained consciousness. She was weakly propped up against the bed. She had lost color in her complexion. There was an IV drip attached to her hand

How is Mom, Dad?”

“She’s much better now. It was a momentary rush of anger. Once she calms down, everything will

be fine.”

Calista nodded. She didn’t want to trigger Selena further by asking what got her so riled up in the first place. However, Lucian was nowhere to be found after she swept a gaze around the room.

Did they get into a fight? But Lucian had always gone along with his mother’s whims. He knew of her heart condition. Her words were the law. Why would they get into a fight? Calista got up.

“I noticed Macy preparing some soup just now. I’ll head downstairs to check on it. I’ll bring Mom a bowl if it’s ready to go.”

She went downstairs and scanned her surroundings.

Selena had likely fainted in the living room. The mess made of the couches and coffee table had

yet to be cleaned away. Calista was just about to set things right when she found Selena’s phone

on the floor.

She hadn’t set a lock screen for herself. So, the screen was still lit up. Calista picked it up to see

news related to Lucian. Accompanying it were photos of him and Lily sharing a kiss on a couch.

Judging by the furnishing, the location was likely Lily’s home. The photos were secretly taken

from an adjacent building through glass. They weren’t high–definition photos.

She figured out why Selena had passed out in that instant.

Anger welled up in her as she held onto the phone. That was when the sound of a car engine being switched out could be heard from the garden

Macylikewise, heard it. She came out of the kitchen and was about to open the door when Calista stopped her.

Allow meMacy.”

Without waiting for Macy to respond, she walked out to the garden. Just as she expected, Lucian had finally come home but with Lily in tow.

There was no hand–holding or intimate gestures. But they walked side by side like an affectionate coupleCalista approached them with large strides. Lucian frowned when he noticed her.

What are you…”

She interrupted him with a slap across his face. Lily’s eyes widened in disbelief. She certainly hadn’t expected Calista to act so aggressively and backhand the man without saying a word.

Lucian’s face was turned to the side as a red handprint bloomed on his cheek. It was clear how harshly Calista had backhanded him.

Lily angrily took a protective stance in front of Lucian and acted as if she were his protector.

“How could you hit someone like that? Correct me if I’m wrong, but you and Lucian are no longer married. What gives you the right…”

Calista forcefully dumped Selena’s phone into the man’s arms and delivered another slap across

Lily’s face. This time, she didn’t hold back.

Lily’s ears were ringing as she held her stinging cheek. She stared at the woman in disbelief.

“Are you both so impatient that you couldn’t wait two minutes to close the curtains? You might as

well have made a live show out of it,” Calista said.

“Calista Everhart.”

His voice was tinged with anger.

“What are you trying to pull?”

“You know Mom doesn’t handle stimulation well. Why didn’t you keep news of this from leaking?”

Lucian finally looked down at the phone she tossed at him. He had switched his phone off the night before and hadn’t bothered to get his charger from his car. So, news of the scandal was new to him

He quickly scanned the contents of the news and then made his way toward the manor with a stern expression.

“How is Mom?”

Calista glanced at Lily who trailed after him.

“Are you planning to take her with you? Don’t you think Mom is upset enough as is? Do you want her to pass out again?”

He pressed his lips into a thin line and turned to Lily.

“Wait for me in the car.”

It was Lily’s father’s death anniversary today. He had promised to accompany her to pay her respects.

“I want to see Mrs. Northwood. She deserves an apology. I want to ask her for forgiveness.”

Calista was not going to allow Lily anywhere near Selena today. It didn’t matter if their relationship had progressed far along enough to get to know his parents.

Selena had just regained consciousness. She wouldn’t be able to withstand the shock.

“Take one more step, Lily, I’ll make sure you’re sent out of the manor in a stretcher.”

Lucian frowned.

“Wait here.”

Lily glared at Calista before shooting her a mocking smile. It went completely unnoticed by

Lucian, who was behind her. Her voice remained soft, as if she were an elder sister; ever gentle

and accommodating.

“Calista, are you stopping me from seeing Mrs. Northwood for her sake? Or is it because you love

Lucian? Do you intend to remarry him? Is that why you still pose as a Madam of the Northwood

family even after the divorce?”

Her words caused Lucian to shoot Calista a furtive gaze…
