Calista’s phone was flung to the basement floor. The screen broke in an instant. One of them

stepped and trampled on it aggressively.

“You just wanna make things damn hard for us, huh? I said we’re just gonna take some photos. If

you’re not going to cooperate, I can’t promise your safety!”

His gaze lingered upon Calista erotically and grinned.

“Damn, you’ve got such a fine body, haven’t you? Other men must’ve …”

Lust filled the air. The look in their eyes gradually changed. Calista was in her casual fit today

with her sling bag.

She asked them calmly, “What kind of photos do you want from me?”

“You know, just like the ones in porn.”

“Alright, but you have to do it in the car. I don’t want people to see me in this state.”

She grabbed her bag.

“I’m having a supper date with my friend later. So hurry up and get on with it now. I don’t want my

friend to know… that I’m doing this.”

They sneered at her. Those photos were meant to be uploaded on the internet. How funny of her to

say that she didn’t want people to see what she did.

But their original plan was to get her photos taken in the car anyways. How could they take a

clear shot of her when it’s dark as hell in the basement?

Surebut you gotta hand over the car keys.”

Calista stiffened her lip. She was reluctant to do so. The capo of the gang intended to snatch it away from her insteadSuddenly, she flung her bag up and strangled him with her bag strap with

all her might.

As their guard was down, she swung him off in another direction with her back leaning against

the car hood,

Calista didn’t look anything like a thug and she didn’t have anything dangerous with hei as well

Who’d think she’d be such a daredevil?

“You’re doing this for money, isn’t it?”

“Are you thinking of bribing us? Hey, we’ve got our own rules to follow. Do you think you can threaten us with just a bag strap? Then let’s see who’s gonna make it till the end–our boss or you,”

said one of the thugs as he whipped out a folding knife from his pocket.

The knife was gleaming with an eerie glow under the dim basement lighting. Calista didn’t look

afraid. She loosened the bag strap so the capo could breathe normally.

To strangle one to death needed two minutes but it would only take an instant for one to stab her

to death.

“Didn’t your client who hired you to come take my nudes tell you my identity? Why don’t you go

and find out who Mrs. Northwood is?”

“There are plenty of surveillance cameras here. And with the power the Northwood family has… try and imagine the consequences you’d have to bear if something happened to me. You’d have to run for your dear life, and I’d suggest you’d better bring your family along. The Northwood family is known for being ruthless and they wouldn’t bat an eye if anything happened to your family.”

The one grabbing the knife immediately did a quick search on the internet.

Calista moistened her lips and continued, “I took the first blow and I’m sure it was already caught on tape. If the police ask about anything, the worst charge we’d be charged with is just getting involved in a physical fight. Nothing would happen to you since there weren’t any casualties-”

Before she finished her sentence, a loud “boom” tore the silence apart on this cold winter night. Two glaring beams of car headlights shone directly on the gang.

A black car screeched to a stop before Calista. The car door opened and a tall figure descended

from the car.

They were unable to tell who was the intruder with the bright headlights on. Moreover, that person was approaching from the opposite direction of light.

Calista’s body was all tensed up as she saw the intruder approaching. Was he a foe or a friendShe

was completely clueless.

If this intruder was one of them as well, she had been wasting her time trying to turn the tables

But her hopes grew higher as the person closed in his distance to her. Could it be Lucian who

came to her rescue?

However, she was well aware that things remained unknown unless she could tell who was the

intruder.

She loosened up in no time once she saw the person dragged one of the thugs that was nearest to him like a punching bag. The thug was flung to the ground instantly.

Only at this moment did she realize that she couldn’t even get a hold of the bag strap because she had been trembling bad.

The intruder brought down the gang with just a few moyes. They were all moaning in pain.

Being drained mentally and physically, Calista plopped herself down on the car hood and stared at the man who stood before her.

“Hector…”

Hector had a tall and imposing figure. He shielded her from the glaring lights, casting a halo around him.

“Why did you come?” asked Calista with a quavering voice.

“I was worried about you so I called Yara for your work address. This area is quite remote, that’s why I came to fetch you instead.”

Hector heaved a long sigh of relief and daringly sat beside her.

*Luckily I came. All these years in the army have finally paid off. I had a gut feeling that

something wasn’t right when your phone was shut down.”

Calista smiled faintly.

Thanks.”

Just wait for me to fetch you if there’s a next time. Don’t even come downstairs, just wait where you are Seriously, you scared the shit outta me

“I’m sorry..

He mumbled“Damn, what if I can’t get hard in the future after this incident? I was too

Calista desperately wanted to take back her apology. The mood lightened after Hector’s playful

words She felt much relaxed and her fear dissipated away into the night.

The injured gang attempted to escape when they saw Calista and Hector were engaged in their

conversation.

Yet, Hector kicked them into the distance before they could even initiate their escape attempt.

The basement was filled with endless shrieks of pain.

“What do we do with these people?”

“Just hand them over to the police.”

There weren’t any other options aside from this.

A car sped towards their direction just as Calista finished her sentence. The car came to an abrupt

stop and Lucian emerged from the car.

His gaze was fixated on Calista and Hector who were sitting close to each other.
