Paul mentioned a location that indeed made sense for his route. Calista pointed at the corridor

Lucian called her by her name. His handsome face was impassive with no hint of emotion in sight. But the warning in his voice was apparent.

“I’m not going to interfere in your marital affairs. But if you stay, it won’t serve any other purpose
than to sour this relationship further.”
“She doesn’t want to see you right now, Lucian.”
Right now? Calista never wanted to see him again! The home was so silent they could hear a pin
drop.
After a while, Lucian left with Paul. With Jonathan already gone, Lucian hitched a ride with Paul
Paul’s voice was icy and lacked the warmth that had been ingrained into him from his early teens.
“Where to? Luminary Lounge?”
“Sure.”
Lucian closed his eyes. He wasn’t interested in continuing the conversation. Paul, however, didn’t
let their conversation drop.
He spoke up, “I’m sure you can tell that Calista has made up her mind to pursue the divorce.”
Lucian’s attitude was chilly. There were also hints of aggression.
“So what?”
“Even if I weren’t here, there would be others. Like.”
He glanced at Lucian who was visibly upset. There was a short pause before he continued.
“Like the one you got into a fight with last night.‘
Lucian slowly opened his eyes.
“So, you admit you like her?”
His question got straight to the point. Paul pulled over, took a cigarette out of the pack, and placed

“What right do you have to question me, Lucian? Whether I like her or not, I haven’t crossed any boundaries. But what about Lily Scott? How do you plan to handle her? Are you going to string
them both along?”
He had lost control after hearing Calista call his name from behind the door. Even though he
hadn’t resorted to violence, his words were forcéful.
It was a departure from how he usually was. This wasn’t his usual way of handling things. But
Paul knew it wasn’t in his place to question Lucian.
He pinched his brows to hold back the irritation brewing in him and put on his gentle facade
again.
“Calista is beautiful and highly competent. There would be no shortage of men asking for her hand. You can stop one. Maybe two. But are you sure you can stop them all? You know what she’s
like. If she fell in love with any one of them, she was not going to compromise. When that happens, what else can you do except make way for her? It’s not as if you can keep her locked up.”
Lucian’s jaw was tightly clenched Something flashed in his eyes as Paul finished.
“Have you considered that her persistence in getting a divorce might be due to the jealousy she
harbors against Ms. Scott?”
The relationship shared between exes was an inherently sensitive topic. Lucian hadn’t made any
efforts to conceal his past relationship.
With the media sensationalizing it, misunderstandings were easy to arise.
Lucian looked out the window at the night scenery and responded with two words, “Not possible.”
His indifference didn’t seem like a reaction someone would have if he were in love. Paul had thought that he wasn’t as cold to Calista as he appeared to be. Now, it seemed like he had been
mistaken.
“Are you … still in love with the girl you were pursuing before? If you can’t let go, you should just peacefully end the marriage and try again.”
“A man as handsome, young, rich, and well–built as you are… She’s not going to refuse you a second time as long as she isn’t blind.”
He had been rejected once. But that was several years ago..
All Paul was aware of was that Lucian hadn’t succeeded in confessing to her. It left him in an
unrestrained state for a short while. As for who the girl was, he wasn’t sure. Later, Lily came into
the picture.

Paul was silent. From the looks of things, he must still love her.
“Why don’t you tell me who she is?” They had been friends since childhood and often hung out together. The people around them all belonged to the same circle. There was a chance that he knew her. “Cade and I will help you figure this out.

Lucian raised a brow. He didn’t mean to sound sarcastic but he felt disdain for the way Cade pursued the women he liked. “Let’s see him get Cameron first.”
Paul fell silent. Well, that was a challenge.
Calista woke up early the next morning. She had to get back to work at Justa today.
Her apartment was a distance away which prompted her to leave an hour early. Just as she neared her destination, she received a text from Yara. It was a photo of someone holding a bouquet.
The bouquet consisted of blue baby’s breath and blueish–white roses. It was rather large. The person cradling the bouquet couldn’t be seen at all.
Calista texted a question mark.
“Did one of your admirers send that to you?”
“It looks like it was your husband who sent them.”
Before she could respond, Yara sent another string of messages.
“Those are for Lily Scott. The school forums are abuzz. It’s been three years since graduation. Those who married early would’ve long had kids who can take care of themselves by now. What’s wrong with posting this on a school forum of all places? Does she have no one around to congratulate her?”
Calista didn’t reply because she had arrived at the workshop’s entrance. What greeted her was a bouquet exactly like the one in the photo being held by the staff from the florist with great effort.
