Chapter 217 It Will Pass in a Moment
Calista looked at Skye and Kay, who were having the time of their lives. Despite drinking heavily, neither of them seemed to be drunk. It would probably take a while for them to get drunk.
“Alright,” she said.
Then, she gulped her drink down and informed them before leaving the private room with Emma.
“Calista, I’ve got a stomachache. I’ll use the restroom real quick; wait for me,” Emma said as the two of
them passed by the public restroom.
“Okay.”
The public restroom was empty because each private room had its restroom.
Feeling a little sick, she leaned against the wall. Calista wasn’t sure if it was because she’d had too much to drink, but her head was spinning, and her surroundings were becoming increasingly hazy.
She shook her head and wanted to go to the sink to splash cold water on her face to sober up, but her legs gave way after a few steps, and she fell to the ground.
However, she didn’t pass out. Calista just couldn’t muster up any strength in her body and was forced to sit on the ground.
These symptoms didn’t seem like those of intoxication; instead, it seemed like she had been drugged.
‘Emma… Emma…”
Her voice was too soft; she couldn’t be heard even if Emma were nearby, let alone inside the restroom. Calista reached for her bag with shaky hands, clutching the stun gun tightly.
She was afraid that those loan sharks would come after her again, so she kept the stun gun on her at all times during this period.
Her other hand rummaged through her bag for her phone and dialed her emergency contact number. Lucian was her emergency contact.
Calista set it when she was still married.
At the time, she had just purchased a new phone, and a window popped up asking her to set an
emergency contact. So, she set Lucian as her emergency contact on a whim.
Calista forgot to change it after her divorce. After all, it was possible that she would never use it in her life: Who would remember to change it?

She had never used it before and had no idea if it would work. She had used up all her strength after
doing all this. Her hand went limp, and her phone dropped to the ground.
Her vision was clouded as if a vell had been draped over her eyes, rendering the content on the screen
completely unreadable.
Calista couldn’t even make out where the speakerphone button was. All she could do was lie on the
ground and put her ear as close to the phone as she could.
Calista had no idea if she had successfully dialed his number because she couldn’t hear anything.
All of a sudden, someone appeared in front of her, casting a shadow that blocked the light from above.
This person slowly crouched down and reached out to pick up the phone from the ground. Their fingers brushed against Calista’s ear, which was pressed against the phone.
Despite her inability to see clearly, she was aware of what that person was doing. Olista wanted to stop
them but didn’t have the strength; she couldn’t even reach out, let alone snatch the phone back.
That person took one look at the name displayed on the screen and asked, “Why did you call him of all people?”
That person’s voice sounded like it was muffled behind a layer of water.
Calista couldn’t tell whether that person was male or female; she had to repeat their words several times in her mind before she understood what they meant.
However, she could tell that those words were spoken through gritted teeth.
The call was abruptly disconnected, her phone was powered off, and it was tossed into a nearby trash can, along with the stun gun she had been “clutching tightly“.
Calista squinted her eyes and tried to make out the person’s face.
“Who are you?”
The person didn’t answer her. The next thing she knew, she was being lifted off from the ground by two individuals, one on each side of her.
Calista had no idea where that person was taking her, but she had a feeling that he was taking her upstairs. After all, the upper floor of Luminary Lounge was a hotel.
Calista was being dragged along, and she lacked the strength to resist.

However, judging from their strength, height, and the firmness of their muscles, she surmised that she

“Could you guys help me call a friend? The price is negotiable.”

All she got in return was a derisive laugh.
In her dizziness, Calista was thrown onto the bed, followed by the sound of footsteps fading away.
However, she still didn’t hear the sound of the door closing after a while.

Were those people planning to leave her here, to be bullied by anyone at
Calista bit her lip; her whole body was scorching hot, and her mind had turned to mush.
The tingling sensation that was surging up from her abdomen made her even more uneasy as it was
eroding her rationality.
Her body writhed unconsciously on the soft bed, and despite her best efforts, a few shameful moans escaped from her tightly closed lips.
Amid the chaos, it seemed like someone had entered the room as she heard the door slam shut.
Calista tried to hide under the covers so she wouldn’t be seen, but the person who came in went straight to her and pulled her out.
“Calista?”
Her consciousness was clouded by the effects of the drug, and everything in front of her appeared blurry. The only thing she could make out was that someone was calling her name.
“Does he or she know me?” she wondered.
Calista immediately snuggled up to that comfortable warmth when that person placed their hand on her forehead.
Her hands involuntarily wrapped around the person’s neck, but the fear and disgust welling up within her were palpable.
Her body was shaking as she was caught in an extreme tug–of–war between her physical and mental
states.
“I don’t care who sent you or if you just walked into the wrong room, but if you dare to touch me, I’ll kill you tomorrow.”
Her voice was husky, yet ice–cold. But Calista had no idea that such a stark contrast would heighten a

“Calista, it’s me, Paul.”
Paul had declined Lily’s proposal in the lobby and left, taking the pill with him.
He admitted that he was no gentleman, but he wasn’t the kind of person who would drug women and take
advantage of them.
However, he returned shortly after leaving. Lily had failed to beguile him, and he couldn’t be sure that she wouldn’t try something with someone else.
He didn’t feel comfortable leaving Calista in the Luminary Lounge. Little did he know that something had
happened in the time it took him to go back and forth.
Paul helped her up. Calista relaxed and went limp in his arms when she heard his name. Fear washed
over her like a crashing wave, and she clutched his shirt weakly.
Tve been drugged, Paul. Take me to the hospital.”
Paul held her in his arms. The woman in his arms had a lovely face and fair skin. Her eyes and face were flushed, and most importantly, she was the woman he liked.
He was a normal, healthy man. He couldn’t remain calm in such a situation.
“If you’re feeling unwell, Calista, I can help you. I’ll take responsibility. How about we get married
tomorrow? Hmm?”
Calista shook her head vigorously, and her hand, which had once clung to his clothes in trust, now pushed
him away.
“Don’t touch me!”
“What about Lucian? Do you want him?”
Calisata continued to shake her head; she appeared to have genophobia. Even though she was weak, she
continued to pull away.
Paul got up and bent down to pick Calista up.
“It’ll be a little uncomfortable, but bear with it.”
Ignoring Calista’s resistance, he carried her to the bathroom and set her down in the bathtub. The cold. water from the shower jolted Calista awake as the weather in March was cold.
*Paul?” she called out as she looked at the man in front of her, dressed in a white shirt and black pants.

The water–filled bathtub was very slippery. Even a normal person would have trouble sitting comfortably In it, let alone someone who was disoriented and physically weak like Calista.
Paul got into the bathtub filled with cold water without hesitation after lifting her out of the water twice.
He held her in his arms and was a gentleman the entire time.
“Just bear with it for a while. The drug will wear off soon.”
Calista closed her eyes and nodded weakly as she leaned against his chest.
“Okay.”
The glass door of the bathroom was forcefully pushed open, its hinges pushed to the limit, causing the surrounding glass to crack.
Lucian stood at the door with a frosty expression on his face, looking at the two people in the bathtub who were embracing intimately….
