Chapter 194 No Physical Contact Allowed.

Calista was about to wash the peeled potatoes. But she didn’t expect there to be oil on the ground. The
anti–slip effect of her slippers wasn’t working fine as well, so she fell.
As she fell, she accidentally brushed against the plates on the counter. All of them fell to the ground.
Paul rushed forward to hold her up. But he squatted for too long. Not only he didn’t manage to get Calista
up, but he fell as well. But he managed to let Calista fall on him instead of the ground.
Although Calista didn’t fall directly on the ground, Paul’s well–trained and sturdy body wasn’t anything
better than falling straight on the ground. She felt dizzy. She wasn’t able to process what happened.
Calista wasn’t aware that her face was against Paul’s crotch. Little did she know there were already
people closing into them at the kitchen entrance.
She frowned and shook her head slightly to get rid of the dizziness.
But because it was just a very minimal movement, it didn’t seem like she was shaking her head, more like
she was rubbing her head against Paul’s crotch.
Paul was lying flat on the ground and one of his hands was around Calista’s waist. He swallowed as
Calista shook her head in front of his crotch.
He said huskily, “Calista, stop moving.”
His voice was hoarse, to the point that it was muffled. Maybe it was from pain or some other reason.
Before Calista could respond, she was yanked away from Paul’s embrace. Although the person yanked
her away roughly, he didn’t hurt her.
As Calista saw who it was, she immediately avoided him. Why is he always around her? She could almost
bump into him every single time. Lucian had a stoic expression as he clenched his jaw.
“How long do you plan to lie down on him?”
Paul already got up. He had a few cuts on his body from the shattered pieces of the plates, and he was bleeding. But he seemed to not notice the pain at all. He didn’t even glance at his wounds.
Paul approached Lucian and took hold of Calista’s other hand.
Contrasting his usual gentle demeanor, he said, “Calista’s my guest today. I won’t let anyone harass her.”
“What do you mean by harassing her?”

Paul didn’t back away one bit from the tension Lucian exuded.
“Anyone could tell that she was reluctant to follow you. What you’re doing to her now is a form of
harassment, isn’t it?”
He pulled Calista close to his side.
“It’s a family dinner today and we don’t welcome outsiders. Off you go, Mr. Northwood.”
Fire sparked between Lucian and Paul. The kitchen became incredibly tiny with the both of them standing
at the kitchen door.
Agnes hushed them as she saw the atmosphere wasn’t right, “Paul, Lucian, please talk nicely
Η
No one took her words seriously. She had no choice but to turn toward Cade to seek his help to stop
them. He was around their age and they went way back, so it’d be easier for him to talk to them.
But as Agnes turned around, there was no sign of Cade. Cade was on the couch with an apple in his hand..
As he realized Agnes was looking at him, he asked her, “Aunty Agnes, this apple tastes really good. Where
did you buy it?”
Agnes chuckled awkwardly
“If it’s that good, you can bring some home later.”
Agnes lost hope in expecting Cade to help stop the confrontation between Lucian and Paul. She turned around and stared at them. Lucian pulled Calista to his side again.
“Is that so? Then we’ll get going now,”
“Do I have to make myself that clear?”
Paul stopped him and pulled Callsta back beside him.
“In this house, you’re the only outsider. No one has to go except you.”
Calista felt like she was a rope torn between them.
“Are you guys kids? Let go of me now.”
Paul was a gentleman and his manners wouldn’t let him do anything that’d upset a woman. He almost
wanted to let go of Calista as she said so.
But as he realized Lucian was still holding her hand, he too resisted to let go of her hand.
Calista said with a cold expression, ‘Let go of me or get lost now,”

As she stated, she suddenly realized that even if anyone were to get lost, it would be her instead. How
could she tell Paul to get lost when they’re in his house?
Lucian tightened his lip as he finally let go after some time. Paul also let go as he saw Lucian did.
Agnes said in a stern voice, “If you still want dinner, go and wait in the living room. Calista, you stay back.
and help me peel the potatoes.”
Since Agnes was their elder, they had to respect her as she was being serious now. Although Lucian and
Paul despised each other, they headed out obediently.
Agnes closed the kitchen door and saw the shattered pieces on the floor.
“Did it hurt just now? It’s all my fault. I didn’t clean up the oil in time when I spilled it.”
“No, but Paul got injured when he helped me up,” replied Calista as she swept the pieces away. “Aunty Agnes, sorry for causing such a fuss.”
“It’s my fault for spilling the oil which made you fall just now. Lucian came on his own, and I know that
has nothing to do with you. Don’t blame everything on yourself. Your mom was like-”
Agnes stopped abruptly.
“Oh my, why did I mention this?”
“Aunty Agries, were you close with my mom?”
Calista’s mom didn’t have a close friend. So there weren’t many options for her to track down information
regarding her mother except from Zachary
“Back in our days, we were both quite busy. We didn’t get to spend much time together.
The Baker and Everhart families were close because Paul’s grandpa was close to Calista’s grandpa.
Although Agnes was close with Calista’s mother, they weren’t the best of friends.
After Calista’s mother’s passing, her grandpa went back to Fort City. Since then, the two families haven’t
been as close as they used to be.
Agnes had already had the ingredients prepared before Calista came. So it only took a while for the
dishes to be ready since she only had to fry them.
Agnes and Calista took the dishes out. Cade was nowhere to be seen. Lucian and Paul took two seats on
the couch which were far from each other. There was only silence between them.

Seeing Lucian and Paul in this state, it was hard for them to enjoy their meal. Agnes frowned as she saw. Paul’s blood–stained clothes.
“Why didn’t you go and treat your wounds?”
Paul mainly suffered from skin injuries. The blood had already dried out. But he was wearing light clothing and blood spread across his clothes, it seemed quite gruesome.
“The wounds are mainly on my back. I can’t see them,” answered Paul.
Agnes turned toward Calista,
“Calista, later could you-”
Before Agnes could finish her sentence, Lucian interrupted, “I’ll treat your wounds. No physical contact
allowed between opposite genders”
He stared at Paul’s face. He thought he was gentle, but the more he looked at him, he realized Paul was just faking his goody–two–shoes appearance. He’s very cunning.
Back in the days when they were sent for training, they encountered wounds that were way worse than
Paul’s.
Paul didn’t bat an eye back then and he continued with training. But now, he could no longer endure it and
he had to treat his wounds.
