Chapter 109 Cry In Pain

Calista was caught off guard until she saw the flats in the box. Only then did she realize Lucian’s

intentions

In just a few seconds, Lucian had grabbed hold of her ankle. His palms were warm, and Calista

could feel the heat through the thin fabric.

She pulled her foot back uncomfortably and whispered, “I can do it myself.”

This would usually make people swoon in TV shows, but it felt awkward in real life, especially

with two strangers watching them. She wished she could dig a hole and hide inside right then!

And judging by the envy in their eyes, they probably found this moment incredibly sweet!

Calista refused to admit it was her problem. It must be Lucian. He was too flawed. This romantic

gesture felt out of character for him, making her feel weird.

His head was lowered, and Calista could see his long and dense eyelashes, as well as the contours

of his nose and jawline.

He tightened his grip as she struggled and furrowed his eyebrows.

“Don’t move,” Lucian said with a frown.

Maks

He easily removed her shoes, revealing Calista’s fair skin and the abrasions on her heel and ankle.

There was a wound on the skin, and blood was oozing out.

Lucian would look at her wound with a pained expression if this were a movie. But in reality, he

smiled mockingly and said, “Why are you so foolish? Don’t you cry when you’re in pain?”

“I’m not a baby. Why should I cry? Why don’t you cry for me?”

Calista forcefully pulled her foot back. She had decided that if he didn’t let go, she would kick him

with one swift motion!

She easily broke free. But she didn’t know if it was because of her strength or his loosened grip.

Lucian had bought a pair of sneakers with the salesperson’s help, and she even thoughtfully

provided a pair of socks.

However, taking them off later would be painful, as the socks would stick to her wound.

Calista was about to put them on when Lucian held her hand and asked the salesperson, “Do you

have band–aids?”

The two people, laughing so hard that they couldn’t help but chuckle, immediately straightened

their backs and said they had some. They went to the counter to fetch the band–aids.

Calista had intended to do it herself, but Lucian took the band–aid and applied it to her wound in

one swift move

She felt a pinch of bitterness as she said, “You seem to know this well. You’ve done your

homework.”

The only other woman who had gotten close to him was Lily. Needless to say, she was the one he

learned these from.

Calista could swear that she had just spoken her mind without any sarcasm. Lucian helped her

put on the socks, and his movements were far from delicate.

He said, “If only you knew a bit about the product, you wouldn’t be making snide remarks here.”

He removed the green embroidered suit that Calista had purposely chosen to tease him and

picked out a more casual one.

He also took out some cash from his wallet and handed it to the salesperson who had helped him

buy the shoes as a tip.

Just as Calista was about to get up, Lucian bent down and lifted her in his arms.

The elevator was right nearby, and he carried her down to the basement level, then called

Jonathan to come pick them up.

While waiting, Lucian suddenly said, “Never.”

Calista was puzzled, “Never what?”

“I’ve never put a band–aid on someone else or bought shoes for someone,” he clarified.

Calista was speechless. There was nothing more to it. Lucian dropped her off at the apartment

building and left after watching her enter.

The next daynews of Nikolette being fired from Ronkan Enterprise was released, and it quickly became trending online. She was your average person, so it shouldn’t create such a big influence.

However, the recent scandals had caused a major stir, and it was Ronkan Enterprise’s last resort to make a big deal out of the issue so everyone would know Nikolette was no longer associated with

them

In the video, Nikolette was being escorted out of the Ronkan Enterprise building by security

guards, her belongings scattered on the ground. She looked disheveled and defeated, far from her

previous arrogant demeanor.

Calista glanced at it brieflythen lost interest and closed the news page.

She wasn’t afraid of Nikolette causing trouble. After the incident last time, even if the security.

guard downstairs didn’t let her in, she could easily handle her in a confrontation. She had honed

her skills through past experiences.

The wound on her feet from yesterday still hurt. Calista had no plans to go out today. The

porcelain bottle she had been working on was almost repaired, so she intended to finish it in the

next couple of days and then return to her job at Justa Workshop.

Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned. In the late afternoon, she received a call from

Zachary.

He spoke in a gentle and kind tone, “Callie, I’m back in the country. Let’s have dinner tonight.”

Calista didn’t have to guess why he had suddenly returned to the country. He never even spoke to

her about returning, but now he was so eager to invite her out for dinner.

“You guys go ahead at. I’m busy,” she replied.

Zachary asked infuriatedly, “Are you so busy that you don’t even have time to meet your dad?”

His tone was filled with accusation.

Calista felt annoyed. Even though he had revealed his true colors as a terrible father shortly after

he married his second wife, she still enjoyed his love when her mother was alive.

Even after all these years, she couldn’t help but still feel disappointed and uncomfortable every

time he spoke to her in that tone.

She responded, “Sure.”

Zachary probably felt guilty because he was quiet for a while.

“Well, if you’re busy, then go ahead. It’s the same if I just talk to Lucian.”

Calista was about to hang up the phone, but she paused at his words. “You also invited Lucian?”

“Wellhe’s my sonin–law. Of courseI should have dinner with him when I return to the country,”

Zachary replied.

Calista gritted her teeth. “Give me the address.”

She wasn’t worried that Zachary would take advantage of Lucian. One was sharp, and the other had experienceNeither of them was simple–minded.

Her concern was the possibility of them teaming up to set her up!

Zachary wanted to secure money to save Nikolette, and if Lucian gave it to him, he would hold her

accountable for it.

Then, he would have another reason to drag her into a divorce lawsuit, making it even more

difficult for her to win!

Calista hurriedly rushed over to the address. Just as she was being led to the private room by a

waiter, she heard Zachary lying through his teeth, “Calista and Nikolette had always been close.

She’ll be heartbroken if she finds out her beloved sister is being bullied!”
