Chapter 9 Ghost
When Tristan was alive, he was Diane’s worst nightmare. As he was in control of the Duran family, her children would never have a chance to inherit the family business. Although Diane was Tristan’s aunt, her position was lower than him and she didn’t even dare to raise her voice in front of him. Finally, Tristan was dead and her good days had come. How could Renee claim that Tristan had come back to haunt them?
“Do you know what you’re talking about?” Diane’s voice cracked. “Don’t you dare to fool me with these stupid lies!”
Renee said innocently, “But… I’m merely speaking the truth.”
Diane’s trusted servant whispered, “Ma’am, maybe she’s telling the truth. Otherwise, how could she find this place…”
Diane stared at Rence and said, “OK. You claimed that you saw Tristan… Where is he? Is he in the room now?”
Renee shook her head. “No. Last night, Mr. Duran left after dropping me off. I don’t think he’ll show up during the day.”
He wouldn’t show up during the day… What kind of creature would do that? He must be a ghost.
The servants‘ faces were all drained of colors and they discussed in small voices, “There must be something behind Mr. Tristan’s death, so he came back….
“I’m sure…”
Diane forced herself to keep calm, not wanting to show her fear in front of the servants. “Even if you’re telling the truth, you must be

punished.”
Rence didn’t expect that Diane would insist on punishing her. Was she an immovable atheist?
“If you hit me, Mr. Duran will be mad.” Renee scooted back and said, “Once he’s mad, he’s going to seek you out.”
Diane was frightened, yet she kept a stern exterior. “I’m his aunt. What’s he going to do to me? Don’t you threaten me with Tristan! Pin her down.”
The servants pinned Renee to the carpet forcefully and she couldn’t break free. As Diane raised the birch and was about to hit her, they heard a gentle voice at the door. “Mrs. Diane Duran, what are you doing here?”
Diane tensed briefly and quickly put down her arm. She turned around and smiled, “Hello, Shelton… Aren’t you handling the business at the office? Why did you come back?”
Shelton glanced at Rence, who was looking pathetic. His gentle smile didn’t change a bit. “I came over for some files. Who is this?”
“I see,” Diane said. “This is Ms. Fletcher, Tristan’s fiancée… You’re so useless. Ms. Fletcher fell to the floor. Why didn’t you help her up? Although Tristan died, she’ll still be his wife. Understand?”
The servants didn’t dare to defy Diane and hurriedly helped Renee up. Renee looked at the grazes on her knees and pouted. She looked at Shelton and said, “You’re Shelton Quinn, right?”
Shelton paused and thought, “Didn’t I introduce myself last night? Why did she ask me that?”
“Yes, Mrs. Renee Duran,” Shelton replied. “What can I do for you?”

Rence said, “I saw Mr. Duran last night.”
A dangerous glint flashed across Shelton’s eyes. He had warned her not to breathe a word about last night.
Rence pulled a long face. “He told me that although he died, he liked me and wanted you to take good care of me. Did he come to your dream last night and tell you the same thing?”
Shelton froze in place.
Renee blinked innocently and looked at Shelton with a sad face. “Shelton? Didn’t Mr. Duran talk to you? How could he lie to me? Mom is right. I can’t trust any men.”
The vein on Shelton’s temple bulged and he took a deep breath. “Of course, he told me about you. I came back because he visited me in my
dream last night.”
