Chapter 7 Guard the Coffin
Shelion asked in confusion, “Cakes?”
As far as he knew, Tristan didn’t like sweets.
Tristan asked back expressionlessly, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Shelton replied. “I’m wondering what flavor you like. Chiffon? Mousse? Or…”
Tristan interrupted, “What kind of flavor do young girls like?”
Shelton hemmed. “Young girls?”
Tristan narrowed his eyes and asked, “Do you think I like cakes?”
Shelton struggled to keep calm. “So Mrs. Duran wants some cakes. I don’t know what flavor she likes. Shall I call the Fletcher family to ask about it? I…”
“No need.” Tristan looked back at the brightly lit room and then lowered his eyes to tighten his black gloves, outlining his slender fingers. He continued casually, “Just bring two random cakes that young girls like.”
Renee was innocent in the world. She couldn’t tell whether the cakes were good or not.

There were only some simple furnishings in the room. Tristan didn’t live there often, so there were few traces of life. Renee looked around but didn’t dare to touch Tristan’s things. After finishing the apple

slowly, she was about to get washed and go to bed when she heard a knock on the door. “Mrs. Duran.”
Rence recognized that it was Shelton’s voice. She opened the door and saw Sheiton with a formulaic smile on his face.
Shelton said, “Let me introduce myself. I am Mr. Duran’s assistant, Shelton Quinn. You can call me Shelton.”
Then he lifted the cake box in his hand. “This is for you.”
Rence took the box and asked in confusion, “What’s it?”
“You’ll know when you open it.” Shelton looked at his watch. “I have something else to do, so I have to go. Good night.”
Then he turned around and left. Renee curiously looked at the box in her arms. She closed the door and opened the beautifully packaged box, only to see two cakes in it, one brownie and one strawberry
mousse.
They were much more exquisite than the cakes she had seen in the glass showcase of the cake shop before. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of cream.
Renee was stunned.
Tristan sent her two cakes.
It meant that he would kill her soon!
Renee thought Tristan had let her go, but it turned out that Tristan wanted to fulfill her wish before killing her.
Renee looked at her last meal. She didn’t want to waste them, so she ate them up. Shelton thoughtfully prepared a cup of coffee to counter the grease.
After eating and drinking enough. Renee got washed, lay on Tristan’s bed, and soon fell asleep.
The next day, Rence was awakened by a piercing scream.
“Look at her! This is too much!” a woman yelled in a sharp voice. “Many guests are waiting in the mourning hall, but she’s sleeping here! It’s so embarrassing! Wake her up now!”
“Yes!”
Being pushed by someone, Renee opened her eyes in a daze and fluttered her eyelashes. The morning sunlight was a bit harsh, and it took her a while to adapt to the light and see a group of people in the
room.
Standing in the front was a well–preserved woman in a long black dress. She was in her early forties, and the exquisite light makeup enhanced her beautiful features. She asked disgustedly and harshly, “Ms. Fletcher, shouldn’t you be guarding your husband’s coffin in the mourning hall? Why are you here?”
