Chapter 71
In the afternoon, Celeste returned to Sierra Villa.
She lay on the bed for a while. Her waist was sore, and it felt a bit like the
prelude to her menstruation.
She reached for her bag on the side, searching for painkillers. It was only
then that she remembered this bag was new and she hadn’t had a chance to fill
it with her usual items.
The pain furrowed her brow. She lay down and gradually felt her consciousness grow heavy. Eventually drowsiness engulfed her consciousness
entirely.
It wasn’t until she felt a sudden icy chill around her waist that she jolted
awake. She tried to sit up, but a large hand stopped her.
“It’s me.”
Instinctively, she attempted to roll over, but the pain in her waist anchored
her in place.
“Ouch.”
“Is it hurting badly?”
“Mm,” her muffled voice came from beneath the covers,.
“I’ll send you to the hospital now.”
Celeste had been battling menstrual cramps for years.
She turned her head slightly, revealing her pale cheek buried in the pillow.
“Hand me some painkillers.”

Kendric seemed a bit cautious, “painkillers?”
She nodded. “Just give ‘em to me.”
Soon, Kendric returned with some pills and a glass of water.
“Take the pills. I’ve already arranged for a doctor’s appointment. And, don’t
overdo it with the painkillers.”
Celeste was irritate, “why can’t? The pills are produced for people to take,
not to merely be displayed in the cabinet.”
Kendric was surprisingly more patient than usual. “Overdose of pills comes
with some risk.”
She didn’t care. “I’d rather risk it than endure this agony.”
She squirmed out of his embrace, buried her head under the covers. She
was absolutely fed up.
She still wanted to leave this place, forever.
When Celeste woke up again, it was already evening, and the sky outside.
her window was darkening. She opened her eyes, only to see an empty
bedroom. She rushed out, barefoot, and ran into Kendric, who was carrying luggage.
“You’re heading out?”
I have a meeting tomorrow morning, so I’m crashing at the office tonight.” Kendric knew clearly that if he stayed here tonight, Celeste would surely move out, “just have a good rest. I won’t be staying here tonight.”

Celeste sighed. She had intended to inform him that she wouldn’t be staying
here, but it seemed Kendric had already figured out her intentions.
She put on a fake smile, “who’s been teaching you all this?”
Kendric was momentarily puzzled, then he realized what she meant. In her
eyes, any kindness he showed was part of a scheme.
“I don’t get what you’re talking about.”
Celeste carried on, “Kendric, why put on this act?”
“Act? So, no matter what I do, you think it’s all an act?”
A laugh escaped Celeste’s throat, “Kendric, stop deceiving yourself. I’ve said
before that I don’t love…”
He suddenly lowered his head and fiercely kissed her.
His expression was so ferocious that Celeste felt like he was trying to tear her apart and swallow her raw.
She pushed him away abruptly, “you can’t deceive yourself for a lifetime! Accept the truth!”
Kendric pinched her chin and forced her to face him. She could provoke him effortlessly, and she always trampled over his pride.
He chuckled, leaning in close to her ear. “I know what’s on your mind, Celeste,”
“But now I don’t care whether you hate me or love me.It doesn’t matter any more. From now until the wedding day, I’ll be right by your side.”
Celeste sneered, “I’ve already told you we’re done.”
Chapter
“Done?” Kendric had just cleared the obstacles between them.
They were about to formally get engaged, with a wedding planned for
year–end, and their life together was just beginning. But now she dropped the
“we’re done” bombshell. He couldn’t accept it..
Soon enough, Kendric left the villa, driving away the only car here. Celeste
had no choice but to spend the night here. She planned to return to her studio the next morning.
The following morning, Celeste was back at her studio.
Sienna was already waiting in her office, her excitement apparent when she saw Celeste walk in.
The news of Ophelia being taken away by the cops had already spread like wildfire.
“Ceeely!I heard Ophelia stole your stuff and got herself a ticket to the police station. What on earth did she take from
you?”
“Huh?” Celeste was puzzled. She hadn’t inquired about how Kendric had handled Ophelia, and she didn’t expect Ophelia to be actually apprehended by the police.
She rattled off a few pieces of jewelry she remembered, “not very valuable.”
Sienna went totally silent for a moment, then exclaimed, “I’m so jealous! I’ve never had anything so nice in my life.”
“Cely, how come you never told me you were sooooo riiiiiich? Okay Kendric may be a jerk, but he’s been truly generous to you.”
Chapter!
Celeste grinned, “snap out of it! Those jewelries weren’t mine. At most, you
could say that Kendric had me keep them temporarily. Since I made up my mind.
to break up with him, I haven’t touch any of those things.”
Sienna looked shocked. “You silly girl! You could have donated them to
charity, it’d do more good than letting Ophelia take them.”
Sienna pulled out a calculator. “Tell me how much those jewelries value. I’ll figure out how many hungry kids in the slums can we use that fucking money to support.”
Celeste spoke out the price of some jewelries. She was halfway through when Sienna threw the calculator on the floor.
“Get out of my face, you disgusting rich bitch!”
