Early the next morning, Myles was the first to wake up.
When Celeste got up, Myles had already bought breakfast and was watching
the morning news.
As she walked into the living room, Myles glared at her, “Kendric is in your
room?”

Myles snorted with displeasure.
Dad, you got him drunk last night. He stumbled and even fell. It almost

Celeste never told her father that she was once pushed down the hill by

Myles fell silent. Then he asked sternly, “why didn’t you tell me before? He saved your life after all, and you treat your lifesaver like this?”

“Mr. Alinsky, I’m really sorry. Please forgive my recklessness last night.”
“No, no,” Myles waved his hands, “it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have forced you
to drink.”
Kendric’s eyes revealed undisguised astonishment.
“Cely has told me. Lats time, you saved her life. As her father, I truly thank
you.”
That could explain everything. Kendric rubbed his temples. He was still haunted by the hangover. Had him known he could gain Myles’s agreement by telling him the truth, he wouldn’t have drunk that much alcohol!
After breakfast, Kendric changed clothes and was ready to head for
company. Celeste prepared to pack up the clothes Kendric changed and send them to the dry cleaner’s.
They chatted at the hallway.
Kendric seized the time when Myles didn’t pay attention to them, and he placed a quick kiss on her forehead.
Celeste pouted and intended to kiss back, but Myles caught her in the act.
Celeste touched her nose in embarrassment, “dad, I’m going to the dry cleaner’s.”
“Hold on.” Myles stopped her.
Kendric was about to speak when Celeste tugged at his sleeve.
Myles stared at her for a while, which nearly pushed Celeste over edge.

Kendric shamelessly continued, “and we’re planning to get married.”
