Chapter 135
When Sharon was 16, she weighed nearly 200 pounds and she had an pecially large appetite. The first time she met Celeste, she ate eight hamburgers. Celeste was totally stunned.
“She’s changed a lot.” Celeste’s widened eyes fully expressed her astonishment.
“Yeah, so you didn’t recognize her,” he teased.
“Then you should have told me directly.”
He apologized straightforwardly, “I’m sorry, I should have told
you earlier.”
“Um.. well, I was wrong, too. I shouldn’t have misunderstood you…”
Kendric smiled, “it’s not your wrong. It’s probably that I didn’t give you enough sense of security.”
Kendric still had some checkups pending, so he wouldn’t be discharged
until tomorrow. The driver first took Celeste home. In the car, Kendric held her
hand tightly. Celeste was about to get out of the car when he pulled her back.
“What’s wrong?” Celeste asked.
Kendric just silently held her hand. Thinking he had something to say,
Celeste sat back in the car.
The next moment, he leaned in and wrapped his arms around her shoulder.
He kissed her.
There was a faint fragrance in the car that Celeste hadn’t noticed before.
But as Kendric leaned in, she caught a whiff of it. It’s subtle, giving her the
feeling of walking on clouds.

Kendric’s kiss was gentler than before, and showed his strong reluctance to
let her go and an expectation to get closer to her.
“Cely. I don’t want to go back to he hospital”
Celeste was momentarily captivated by this kiss, but Kendric’s words
brought her back to reality. Finally, reason prevailed.
She gasped while using her red lips to caress the stubble on his chin. “Don’t
use seduction on me. It doesn’t work. You’re a patient, remember?”
On the day Kendric was discharged from the hospital, Celeste happened to
be invited to participate as a judge in an art TV show.
She had no way to reject. She made a call to Kendric to apologize, “I’m
sorry, I may not come pick you up today.”
There’s a fraught silence, which upset Celeste no end.
She hurriedly explained, “the program producer is my friend, and he helped
me a lot when I was abroad, so I should not refuse him. I’ll come to see you right
after I finish it.”
Kendric’s voice rang out, “he? your friend is a man?”
Celeste rolled her eyes. He cared nothing for her guilt but the gender of her
friend?
“Isn’t it obvious?” She chuckled.
Kendric snorted. He didn’t forbid her to go like he would do in the past,
“then come back early.”

I will, bye.
Kendric tightened his grasp around the phone, “wait.”
“Yeah?”
“I will miss you.”
Now it was Celeste’s turn to lapse into silence.
Kendric declared in his typical proud tone, “and you should miss me too.‘
Celeste chuckled, “I will.”
It’s not until he heard Celeste’s promise that Kendric hung up the phone
with satisfaction.

Both of them had busy work to attend to. The program Celeste was
participating in was in prerecorded form and would be broadcast on television
days after. As one of the guests, she had to spend five days on program
recording, totaling around a week.
While Kendric, who had been hospitalized for more than ten days, now had
a lot of work and meetings to handle. Immediately after his discharge, he went
abroad for business negotiations.
Though they were both busied themselves with their own careers just like
before, the emotional connection between them seemed closer.
With all his mind occupied by Celeste, Kendric felt this business trip
unusually agonizing. Work now became particularly tedious and annoying for
him.

there was always time difference to consider when they wanted to call
other. Celeste was recording the program during the day so she only had
e to call Kendric at night, which was the busiest time for him.
As a result, on the first day of business trip, they both tried calling each
other, but neither managed to answer.
The program recording tasks were extremely demanding, with additional
rehearsals, interviews and discussions of professional knowledge. The
high–intensity work gradually pushed Kendric out of Celeste’s mind.
Until one day, she saw a man sitting on the sofa in her dressing room with
his back to her. Celeste thought she had an illusion, otherwise why would she
feel this man look so alike Kendric?
This man turned around. It was indeed Kendric.
“Kendric, when did you come back?”
Kendric had been in meetings for a few days. He rushed straight here to
ind Celeste as soon as he was off the plane. He was still dressed in a business
uit. The blue pocket square on his chest was neatly folded.
He was leaning back in the chair with hands crossed. “Why didn’t you
nswer my calls?”
Celeste had been busy with work all day and had no time to check her
hone. She hurriedly reached into her pocket, but where was her phone?
She called over her assistant and fetched her phone. There were really
veral missed calls from Kendric.
“Sorry, I’m totally swamped today.”

sounded like a perfunctory explanation and an excuse.
“Are you brushing me off?” he asked in an even tone, but you could feel the
ms lay beneath.
He was clearly displeased with her not prioritizing him.
Celeste tried to explain, “no, I really didn’t mean to. I put my phone on silent
mode.”
Kendric’s attention didn’t waver in the slightest. He tilted his head and said in a sure tone. “Celeste, you are not taking me seriously.”
Celeste was caught off guard by his question. Perhaps he was right. She
didn’t seem to prioritize him as much as he did her.
The awkward silence didn’t last long because the staff outside urged, “Miss
linsky, the recording is starting.”
Celeste had no choice but left first.
She left the sad, exhausted Kendric alone in the dressing room.
