Chapter 133
She swallowed a mouthful of wine, “McCartneys, they are all idiots! Of
course, excluding Eulalie.”
Sienna held a wine bottle in her arms, murmuring, “I’ve never seen my
brother so heartbroken. The day he went to pick up Eulalie, he cried! I’ve never
seen him shed tears before. Goddammit! My heart broke for them. Their
happiness was messed up by those motherfuckers!”
“And from then on, Eulalie has been in a poor mental state. My brother took
a long leave to accompany her. But she already had psychological issues.”
“Fortunately, my brother found out in time and took her to the hospital. The
doctor said she might have had depression for over a year. She already had mild
depression when they got married.”
Celeste fell silent. She was totally ignorant of Eulalie’s experience. Every
time she called Eulalie, she could feel her coldness. Celeste thought Eulalie
disliked her. She never realized Eulalie was going through the torment of
illness.
Sienna gave a big hug to Celeste, “Cely, listen to me! If you really love him,
don’t hesitate and don’t be worried about whether to have kids or not. Like my
brother, his biggest wish now is for Eulalie to be well. He doesn’t give a damn
about having kids.”
“No one dares to mention “kid” or “pregnancy” at home. If anyone does, he
will be pissed off. So Cely, if you love him, then take action. Believe me!”
Celeste tried to take away the empty bottle in her hand, “you’re drunk,
Sienna.”

“You should have a drink, too. Alcohol can bring you courage. Cely… don’t
care about those things. Be brave and chase your happiness.”
“Okay, okay, I got it.”
Sienna shook her head, “no.” She insisted, “call Kendric right now and tell
him that you want to be with him. Now!” she cried, “I feel so sorry for my
brother. Why is he suffering so much?”
“Cely, I don’t want you to suffer these. You, my brother, and Eulalie, all of you are such good people.”
“Of course, except Kendric. He’s a jerk! And he beat my brother, but he loves you. So, I approve of you being with him.”
“Sienna, you’re really drunk. Let me help you to bed.”
Sienna cried even louder. She took out her phone and handed it to Celeste, “you, call Kendric. Tell him you agree to be his girlfriend!”
“I know, I’ll call him later.” Celeste tried to help her get up.
Sienna covered her mouth, “we have to call him now.” She squinted her eyes to find Kendric’s number in contact list. Celeste snatched her phone away. “I promise I’ll call him later. Now, you should go have a rest. My god, I should have stopped you from drinking.”
Sienna cried and struggled, “I’m not drunk! I feel so sad for my brother. I feel sorry for you too.”
Celeste gently patted her back, “I know. Your brother is a good person. He and Eulalie will have a happy life.”
Sienna vigorously nodded her head, “yes, we all will.”
After much effort, Celeste managed to soothe the crying Sienna to sleep.
She was now drenched in sweat, so she went to the bathroom for a shower.
Then she sat alone by the window.
Eulalie’s experience shocked her deeply, and she couldn’t shake off the
sadness for Eulalie. Being born into such a family was indeed unfortunate. Celeste couldn’t imagine why there would be such heartless parents in this
world.
While lost in thought, the phone placed aside started vibrating. She glanced
at it–it was Kendric.
“Haven’t got to bed?”
“No,” she honestly replied, “I heard an upset story, and can’t sleep now.”
“What is it?”
“Something sad.”
Kendric paused and probed, “related to Manuel?”
“How did you know?”
“Um.. I can’t sleep either.”
Celeste tentatively asked, “then would you mind I come over to see you
now?”
He smirked, “sure not.”
When Celeste drove back to the hospital, it was nearly eleven o’clock. Cade was still patrolling outside the corridor. His stern expression softened slightly when he saw Celeste.

“Miss Alinsky.”
She smiled.
Kendric was lying on the bed, and a smile appeared on his face when he
heard the sound at the door.
Celeste’s sadness eased a bit upon seeing his smile.
“You knew the whole story? I mean Manuel and Eulalie…” she asked.

Kendric slightly turned his head to look at her, “I didn’t mean to hide it
you. You were abroad and I…”
Celeste lowered her head, “I felt sad for that child… it should have come into this world happily, but because of those scumbags… Eulalie must be heartbroken when she lost her baby.”
Kendric stoked her hair and said with a melancholic tone, “Cely, things will get better for them. They may have regrets, but life is imperfect and full of regrets. Now they cherish each other, it’s enough.”
Regrets?
Celeste looked into his eyes, “what is your regret?”
“That I didn’t cherish you properly when you loved me.”
Celeşte fell silent. She guessed that Kendric would say this, but when she heard him say it in person, she still felt her heart ached.
“What if I say… there’s still a chance.”
He smiled, then a frozen expression of shock etched across his face when he realized what she had just said.

Even his hand trembled. He tried hard to make himself sound clam, “then I
will definitely seize that chance.”
Kendric was far from leisure during his hospital stay. A stack of files piled up at the head of his bed, and different people came in every day to report
work.
He was born with wealth, but at the same time, he had to bear more responsibilities, perhaps that was his destiny.
Celeste came to see him everyday. So, apart from work, another routine for Kendric was to eagerly wait for her at the hospital.
On this afternoon, when Celeste arrived, Kendric finally showed his first smile of this day.
Celeste noticed there was no file on the table today.
“No work today?”
Kendric seemed a bit excited, “come over here.”
She sat down on the chair by the bedside. Kendric propped his hand on the back of his head, looking up at her.
“I’m taking a break this afternoon.” he tilted his head and narrowed his eyes, “and tonight too.”
