Chapter 125
Manuel tried to comfort Celeste, but he couldn’t find proper words, and
Celeste’s ears were buzzing. She couldn’t hear anything.
“Excuse me, I gotta go now.” To prevent herself from losing composure, she
apologized and quickly walked out of the restaurant.
She ran away without looking back, like escaping the monster chasing
behind her. It wasn’t until she reached her car that she regained her
composure.
She leaned her head against the steering wheel. Instantly, tears
uncontrollably streamed down.
“It’s so unfair…” she muttered.
Half an hour later, Celeste drove to the hospital.
In the doctor’s office, she sat across from the doctor with a stack of
diagnostic reports in her hands. The smell of disinfectant inexplicably
accelerated her heartbeat. She cleared her throat and asked, “doctor, what is
the result?”
The doctor examined the reports. She didn’t answer Celeste’s question but
asked, “you’re not married?”
Celeste clutched her bag tightly and shook her head, “not yet.”
She listened blankly to the doctor uttering those incomprehensible medical
terms.
All the way until the end, she tightly grabbed the doctor’s wrist, “do I really have no chance to get pregnant?”
The doctor didn’t give a definite answer. She couldn’t bear to see the glint of hope in Celeste’s eyes fade. “Well, the probability may be low but it doesn’t
mean it’s impossible. Miracles can happen.”
Miracles?
Celeste revealed a bitter smile.
The next day, Celeste took a sick day. She needed time to collect herself and
to contemplate this issue.
In the first twenty–something years, she had never imagined such a thing
would happen to her. In her plan, a child had always been an important part of
her future life.
When she was still Kendric’s girlfriend, she had fantasized countless times.
about what their life would be like with kids.
She even imagined the appearance of kids and what temper they would.
have. Perhaps if it’s a daughter, she would be as gentle as her, and a son would
be as tall as his father.
Celeste suddenly thought of her father whose greatest wish was for her to live a happy and carefree life. She sighed, life isn’t always perfect. She now had a successful career, but at the same time, fate left a pity in her life.
After a whole day of contemplation, Celeste had accepted the reality.
Everyone comes into this world to live for themselves. And life is short. She should waste so much time on sighing for what she couldn’t have.
After adjusting her mindset, Celeste returned to work. As soon as she

entered the office, she encountered an unexpected person.
Sharon had joined the project team on Monday morning, but Celeste took a
sick day that day and missed her.
The glass windows of the office reflected the surprise on Celeste’s face and
the calmness on Sharon’s.
“Why are you in my office?” Celeste still couldn’t believe her eyes.
Sharon put down the magazine in her hand and stood up from the sofa,
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Waiting for me?”
Sharon extended her hand to Celeste, “I’m Sharon, the new chief game
designer of Cursed Signs project team. I’m in charge of game development.”
Kendric had his reasons for bringing Sharon in this project. Although
Celeste was the good at aesthetics, she lacked experience in game design. Moreover, the project was facing setbacks, and the entire company was waiting
for her new project proposal. However, Celeste’s work on her end had been
stagnant. She needed someone to assist.
Proud and unwilling to be defeated by failure, Celeste was determined to excel in this project. For her sake, Kendric took great efforts to invite Sharon to join in this project.
Sharon couldn’t quite understand this. In her view, this project wasn’t
worth putting in so much effort. However, Kendric insisted.
That day after Celeste left, Sharon asked Kendric, “why don’t you let her know you’re doing all this for her?”
Chapter125
Kendric just stared at Celeste’s figure, “compared to what she gave me back
then, what I did for her is still far from enough.”
Sharon couldn’t quite grasp his meaning, but she could vaguely guess that
Celeste had probably given something very important to Kendric back then, but
he failed to cherish it.
Celeste extended her hand politely, “I’m Celeste Alinsky. We just met a
couple of days ago.”
Sharon nodded. “This is my resume.” She was now nominally Celeste’s
subordinate. “My position level is the same as yours, but for now, I am your
subordinate.”
After scanning Sharon’s resume, Celeste’s eyes widened. Based on Sharon’s
impressive background, it seemed like assigning her to this project team was a
gross misuse of talent.
Sharon seemed to sense her confusion. “I came here because someone.
invited me to help.”
“Who?”
Sharon skipped this question and pointed to the design proposals on
Celeste’s desk. “I glanced over the designs that were rejected before.”
Celeste looked at the thick stack of papers.
Sharon explained. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I was a bit bored sitting here,
so I casually flipped through them. And combining your previous design
proposals, I made some modifications.”
Chapter125
With Sharon’s help, Celeste overcame the most challenging hurdle. The
game design proposal was quickly approved.
After all, Celeste formally entered the game industry recently, so she had
limited knowledge of the game design. Sharon’s experience in this field was
much abundant than her.
A week later, the new game officially began promotion.
The promotion department decided to hold the launch event on a mountain,
closely aligning it with the game’s content and setting.
The promotional video caused a great sensation online within seconds.
Players had high expectations for the game’s visual elements and details, and these were Celeste’s strengths.
When Sharon saw the gaming scenes drawn by Celeste for the first time on the computer, she couldn’t hide her astonishment.
She’s a talent.
