Chapter 119
As Celeste appeared at the doorway, some people immediately hushed when
they saw her, but a few were still unaware and continued gossiping.
Celeste held the coffee cup elegantly, “seem like you’re quiet curious about
my private life? You’re all so good at making stories.”
“The promotion department has been busy planning the offline activities
lately. I heard they are short–staffed. How about I send you to help them?” In
order to increase visibility, Cursed Signs was currently conducting a tour of fan
conventions and other offline events, and manpower was tight.”
Celeste’s words stunned them all. Who would want to be transferred to
promotion department? It’s so arduous.
Celeste mocked, “staying in the design department would be a waste of your
eloquence. You should be in the right positions.”
So, Celeste dispatched them six to the promotion department.
And everyone in the design department knew that the new art director was
not someone to be trifled with.
At ten o’clock, Celeste headed to the conference room upstairs for the
meeting.
She arrived early, and there were only a few people in the conference room.
Her position was on the periphery of the table.
After ten minutes past ten, shareholders and investors started coming in.
Kendric was the last to arrive, followed by his two assistants, Cade and
Luke. When they saw Celeste, they nodded their head slightly toward her.
Redeemed From Caged Love
Chapter19
Although Celeste was appointed as the art director, she usually did not
participate in shareholder meetings, so it was a bit strange that they had her
attended this meeting, and she herself was curious.
It’s not until they read the shareholder resolution that Celeste finally
understood the reason.
“The characters and storyline of Cursed Signs will be terminated here, with
no further extensions.”
Celeste stole a glance at Kendric, only to see his calm expression. He was
not surprised to this resolution.
After the meeting ended, Kendric was surrounded by the crowd. After all,
his fund strength ranked among the top in this city. As long as he was willing to
invest more money, reviving the project would be no problem, so the
shareholders all surged forward to shake hands with him.
Celeste had a pile of doubts in heart. She wanted to find Kendric to confirm.
this matter, but she didn’t get the chance. She stood on the side and waited for a
while.
Kendric was ushered upstairs by the crowd. Celeste followed a few steps behind, and then she felt a vibration from her pocket.
She got a
Message.
[Noon, 12 o’clock, Sky Garden Restaurant on top floor.”
She breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she had chance to meet him… god, her curiosity was driving her crazy!
After another hour of torment, the hand of the watch pointed at twelve,
Chapter 19
Celeste rushed to the upstairs restaurant to find him.
The Sky Garden Restaurant, true to its name, seemed to be built in the
clouds. In front of the wide glass windows, you could overlook the entire
scenery
scenery.
Luke was already standing beside the elevator waiting for her. He greeted.
Celeste with a bright smile, “Mr. Melville is already inside.”
Celeste nodded.
She walked in, and saw Kendric studying the menu intently, and the waiter
beside him kept introducing the dishes.
Actually Celeste had no appetite. Anyone in her situation would lose their
appetite. On her first day at work, the shareholders‘ resolution was to halt the
project she just joined in. Then what was she doing here? Serving as a mascot?
What about her team? Unemployed right after joining?
“I ordered some dishes. Is there anything else you’d like to eat?”
Compared to her anxiety, Kendric behaved much more composed.
Celeste got straight to the point, “why did you close out the project?”
Kendric poured her a glass of water and spoke in a soothing tone, “if said–it’s not me who made this decision. Will you believe me?”
She immediately nodded her head. If he said it wasn’t him, she believed him. Beside, he had no reason to do it.
Maybe it was because Celeste trusted him without any hesitation, or maybe it’s because today’s investment discussion went smoothly, Kendric gave a warm sibile.
Chapter119
“The suggestion to halt this project was offered three months ago. I had discussed it with Adrian back then, but he didn’t agree.”
“Three months ago? I hadn’t come back yet.”
“Yeah. For Adrian, he spent three years‘ efforts on this project, so he’s not gonna close it out easily even if I think it not profitable. Given the
circumstances, I honestly told him that if he doesn’t choose to close this project
out, I won’t choose to invest in him.”
“But then why did you…”
“Two months ago, Adrian came to me urgently. He needed my investment
and agreed to stop this project, and use to develop a new game on the base of
original game servers.”
It made sens. The servers for this game were built to high standards, with
capability to accommodate millions of users.
Celeste pondered for a moment, “two months ago… it was when I formally
signed the contract.
“Right, and because your joining in this project, Adrian bet that I wouldn’t
close out this project.”
She gritted her teeth, “so, this is his fucking trap and we walked into it?”
Kendric wasn’t as angry as Celeste. He even had the mood to reveal a satisfied smile, “not entirely. I never expected you would join this project, and I would become your investor.”
He teased, “now, your work is inseparable from me. Does that mean I’m as important as your work?”

Celeste didn’t expect him to have the mood for joke at this moment, “hey,
this is a serious matter!”
