Chapter 105
The next day was another sunny day. Outside, the wind was howling, and the sun offered little warmth. Nonetheless, the sky appeared brilliantly azure,
like painted by the sea.
In the early morning, Celeste hurried to the hospital. Kendric was still banned from any food, so he had to receive the total par–enteral nutrition.
Kendric noticed a faint tinge of red on her nose. “Is it cold outside?”
Celeste rubbed her hands together. She was staying at a nearby hotel, not
too far from here, but she would still need to walk here in the chilly wind.
Kendric called someone in and instructed, “fetch a thicker coat.”
Near noon, Kendric finished receiving the par–enteral nutrition. He wannal
change his clothes, but he had some difficulties.
Due to the wound on his stomach, it’s challenging for him to make large
motions.
Celeste approached, “let me help you.” she helped him take off his hospital
gown. “you lost some weight.”
“Perhaps because I missed a few meals these days.” He thought Celeste
overreacted.
She gently assisted him in putting on his shirt, but inevitably, his wound
ached badly when he raised his arms, causing him to break into a slight cold
sweat.
Celeste frowned with concerns, “you sure you can discharge from
hospital?”

Celeste slightly regretted her decision to agree with Kendric’s discharge.
immediately after his surgery.
Yet this man had been amazingly resilient. He would not be easily defeated
by pain. “I’ll take some painkillers later.”
The doctor had said that right after the surgery, it would be hard for him to straighten his back these days because this motion might pull the wound, but Kendric stiffened his back. Apart from his pale face, it was hard to tell that he had just undergone surgery.
Celeste shook her head, a bit amazed at his formidable willpower.
Before leaving the hospital, they went to Caleb’s ward again.
Kendric stood outside the ward for a long time.
“We gotta go now, Kendric,” said Celeste.
Through the glass, Kendric’s gaze fell on his grandfather, and he muttered
his promise, “grandpa, trust me, I will guard our family glory.”
Celeste’s eyes turned moist.
Kendric turned around and held her hand. Her fingertips moved slightly,
but she did not withdraw her hand from his grip.
Outside, snow began to fall again.
Their hands entwined tightly as they got into the car together.
Kendric took another dose of painkillers in the car. Celeste noticed that his
complexion was extremely poor. “Are you okay?”
Kendric gave a nod. He refused to let go of her hand.

“Just feel a bit dizzy.”
Celeste’s heart lurched. She reached out to touch his forehead. “Heavens,
you’re running a fever!”
She quickly instructed the driver to pull over. The accompanying private doctor from the other car following behind rushed over to provide emergency
treatment. “I’m afraid we have to use the antibiotics.”
Kendric closed his eyes and coldly refused, “no!”
The doctor tried to persuade, “the fever is caused by inflammation in the
wound. Without addressing the inflammation, the temperature won’t come
down.”
Kendric opened his eyes, which were already a bit bloodshot. It made him
look more fierce. “Get out.”
The doctor had no choice but to leave the car. There were only Celeste and Kendric in the back seat. The driver stole them a glance from the rear–view mirror, then discreetly retracted his gaze.
They lapsed into a standoff. Celeste insisted, “you ! must! take ! antibiotics!
NOW!”
His silent refuse got her more anxious. “Are you joking with your life? This is not something you can just endure until it passes. You’re running a fever!”
Kendric shook his head, “I know my condition well.
Celeste couldn’t hold back her anger anymore, “what the fuck you know! I’m fed up with your reckless actions to risk your life. And now you dare not listen to the doctor’s advice! Who the fuck you think you are? Superhero?”
Kendric was stunned by her barrage of scolds, or perhaps his brain had
been addled by the fever. Anyway, he was left speechless.
Celeste pressed his shoulders, “I’ll go find the doctor right now. You! Sit here
and wait me to come back. Don’t you dare move your ass!”
Kendric felt a bit wronged. His lips turned downward.
So when the doctor came, he found his once arrogant boss now sitting obediently, like a child just got reprimanded. He almost burst out laughing but restrained it when met with Kendric’s icy gaze.
Celeste even got Cade to stand beside the car. If Kendric dared to resist, she would directly ask Cade to tie his hands.
Poor Kendric ‘obediently received the injection.
“I’ve never seen Mr. Melville so obedient before.” Said the doctor to Cade
after getting out of the car.
Cade didn’t comment. After a while, he added, “you’ll get used to it.”
The doctor shrugged, “Mrs. Melville looks quite gentle.”
Unexpectedly, she’s quite fierce.
They arrived at the villa where Grandpa Caleb used to live before he moved
to Beacon Senior Care. All the ‘guests‘ were waiting for them there.
Kendric walked and updated Celeste on the situation, “you are not acquainted with the relatives on my mom’s side. My mother is from Quinn family. This time, Quinn family sent my two uncles here.”

Celeste took down notes, “but what are they here for?”
Kendric had run out of strength, and Cade immediately took over the job to
explain, “they came, because if Mr. Melville’s grandfather…” Cade stole a glance.
at Kendric, who showed no special reaction.
“If so, Mr. Melville will exercise his statutory right of inheritance.”
“What does that mean?”
Cade explained, “the heir of Melville family should be sir’s father. But since
he has passed away, sir inherits the right to succession from his father.”
Celeste was puzzled, “so what does this have to do with your uncles? The
Quinn family?”
“They are here to discuss the joint property‘ of Ms. Quinn and Mr.
Melville’s father.”
Celeste got it at once. The Quinns were here to divide the property.
Cade continued, “all of the inheritance is left to sir according to his
grandfather’s will, but this will hasn’t been made public yet. That’s why they
dare come to stir up troubles.”
“Apart from the Quinn, who else came?”
“Bates family,” Kendric answered.
Celeste hadn’t expected Bates family to also wade into this chaos. “Who
else?”
“The rest are some relatives of my family. When grandpa started from scratch, he had borrowed some money from them. As his business prospered,

they frequently came to milk money from grandpa by leveraging their past
assistance. So, this time, they came for money, too.”
At this point, Cade expressed strong disdain, “they even shamelessly
claimed that Mr. Caleb Melville’s success today is all thanks to their
assistance!”
Celeste got the general situation. Kendric reassured her before going inside,
“don’t be afraid. You have me.”
