Chapter 104
After ending the call, Celeste anxiously asked, “what did my dad say? Is he
very mad at me?”
Kendric reassured her, “no, he’s not mad at you. He’s coming to get you the
day after tomorrow.”
“The day after tomorrow? But what about you?”
Kendric smirked, “I’ve got it under control here. It’s only that, tomorrow, I’ll
need your help.”
Although Celeste wasn’t entirely clear about his plan, she was willing to
help him get through this tough situation.
Back in the hospital room, the doctor came for a routine checkup. He
signaled Cade to take Celeste outside.
After listening Kendric’s requirements, the doctor rejected him right away.
“No way! You’ve just had your surgery, and I’ll not allow you to discharge.
from hospital tomorrow.
“You didn’t follow my advice today and insisted on sitting up. Your wound is already showing signs of inflammation. It’ll be even riskier to discharge
tomorrow.”
Kendric couldn’t pay little concern to his warnings. “It’s not a request. It’s
an order.”
The doctor was close to losing his patience. He had never encountered a patient quite like this.
“You sure? It can easily lead to complications in your wound. The

consequences will be worse than you thought.”
Kendric raised an eyebrow slightly, “what are the consequences?”
The doctor thought Kendric finally wavered, “you may need to have the
wound re–stitched.”
“Well, then tomorrow night, I’ll come back to re–stitch the wound. You can
go out now.”
The doctor could hardly believe his craziness, “what… come back to
re–stitch the wound?”
He had never come across a patient so neglectful of his own health. Alright,
he’ll find someone who can talk some sense into him!
Before bedtime, Celeste once again checked on Grandpa Caleb. She silently wished for his speedy recovery.
She spent more than twenty minutes there, and on her way back, someone called her name.
“Yes? Doctor.”
Celeste always displayed a respectful and cordial attitude towards the nurses and doctors. Her courteous demeanor pleased the doctor, who believed she might be easier to communicate with.
“Mrs. Melville. Your husband is scheduled for discharge tomorrow. We don’t advice it because it’s not good for his recovery! Please persuade him to give up this thought.”
Celeste wasn’t surprised by Kendric’s eagerness to discharge.Tomorrow, a variety of people would be arriving, mostly Kendric’s relatives. He couldn’t
avoid hosting them.
To convince them that he was in good health, Kendric had to stop
hospitalizing.
The doctor continued, “tonight, he even asked the nurse to discontinue the antibiotics again. His wound is already infected, discontinuing the antibiotics
will only worsen it.”
Celeste’s expression changed. “I got it, doctor. Please continue with the
antibiotics, and I’ll have a talk with him.”
“What about the discharge tomorrow?”
Celeste appeared hesitated. “There’s something extremely important
scheduled for tomorrow, and we have to leave the hospital.”
The doctor shook his head, “what could be more important than his own.
health?”
“Why did you instruct the doctor to discontinue the antibiotics?” Celeste couldn’t wait to question him as soon as she returned to the ward.
Kendric narrowed his eyes, “who told you?”
“It doesn’t matter who told me. I need a reason.” Celeste took a deep breath to quell her anger before questioning, “you’re gonna drink alcohol?”
His silence confirmed her guess.
Celeste got exasperated, “you’ve just had surgery! Are you trying to kill yourself?”

She was so infuriated that her eyes reddened. She couldn’t understand
what’s on his mind!
Kendric patted the bed, “come over here.‘

Celeste, who was still mad at him, chose to sit on the sofa, “you have to
provide me with a reasonable explanation.”
“Cely, you think I have fear to them?”
Celeste knew who he was referring to those who had long coveted
Kendric’s position and power. They were ravenous wolves awaiting the chance.
to crave up him.
“I’m afraid they may band together at this moment and target at us.
Celeste said.

Kendric nodded and then shook his head, “they do have this plan, but it’s
not easy for them to band together,” he sneered.
“Some of them only gravitate toward the benefits and will easily betray their alliance for benefits. Some are so
cowards who lack the guts. After
grandpa fell ill, they smelled the chance and revealed their hidden fangs, but if the real danger comes, they will only flinch back.”
Celeste got his meaning, “so, we must have them believed that you’re in good health and they definitely have no chance to take over the company, right?”
Kendric nodded, “exactly.”
Celeste fell silent. She understood the severity of the situation, but he had just undergone stomach surgery, and the doctor had recommended at least two
weeks of rest…
“You can just show up and tell them you’re fine. You don’t have to drink the
alcohol. Remember you have done the stomach surgery. It’s not like you got a
cold!”
Kendric’s gaze conveyed that there really was no alternative. “You blocked
the news of my surgery, but they’ll have other ways to confirm their guesses. They will undoubtedly offer me toasts to me. If I refuse, it will arouse their suspicion. Cunning as they are, they will also make sure I won’t take the non–alcoholic beverage.”
A nurse knocked on the door from outside and inquired, “Mrs. Melville, should we continue the patient’s antibiotics?”
Celeste heard the voice, stepped outside, and briefly conversed with the
nurse.
When she returned, a glint sparkled in her eyes. “Kendric I know how to resolve this.”
“How?”
“Tomorrow, I’ll attend with you, in the capacity of your wife. This way, it’s reasonable I accept their toasts on your behalf. They won’t have any reason to pressure you to drink. You can simply make up an excuse like having taken cold medicine. Just as you said, they’re cowards. They dare not take any actions unless they confirm their doubts.”
Her eyes sparkled like stars with anticipation, “what do you think?”
Kendric felt hard to describe his feelings now. He recalled the advice his grandfather had given him earlier, “Celeste treats you with sincerity, and you
must never let her down.”
“If you hurt her feelings, you’ll be the one in pain in the end.”
“If one day she really leaves, you will regret it.”
It’s not until now did he really understand grandpa’s words.
“Cely.”
“Yes?”
“Thank you.”
Celeste covered her eyes with her hands. “Kendric, I’ve done more things for you in the past.”
“But this is the first time you said thank you to me.”
