Cade widened his eyes in surprise, “you…”
Cade had witnessed Celeste’s prior coldness toward Kendric, so surely her
willingness to take care of Kendric left him astonished.
Celeste didn’t catch the reason behind his surprise, “if you don’t trust me,
you can send someone you trust. It just so happens I need an assistant.”
How would Cade doubt her! He deadly wanted her to stay.
He racked his brain for a suitable person, “how about Nicho?”
“Nicho?”
“The newly appointed butler. You haven’t met him yet.”
It didn’t matter whether she had met him or not, as long as he was a
reliable man. “Then get him here.”
After being appointed as a butler, Nicho had been feeling frustrated.
He was initially Cade’s subordinate. Then, one day last year, he was
transferred work in Mr. Melville’s villa. He had thought it a good opportunity to
gain faster promotions.
But then he found out the he was only responsible for the household affairs,
and Mr. Melville was hardly ever at home, so he had few things to do here.
When he received a call from Cade, Nicho couldn’t help but complain,

“Apart from some annoying calls, there’s nothing particularly noteworthy.
How’s everything going in the hospital?”
“Do you want to come over?”
Nicho instantly perked up, “I do.”
Cade wore an expression of ‘I knew you would,‘ and said, “come over
tonight.”
In the evening, Cade came to Kendric’s ward to report his work.
The doctor had mentioned that the wound would be quite painful after the
effect of anesthesia wore off, so Kendric needed to stay in bed for a day or two.
However, when Celeste returned, she found Kendric sitting up.
His assistant had put a laptop on the over bed table, and Kendric, wearing glasses, was busy dealing with emails.
Celeste felt a headache for Kendric’s over–enthusiasm to work.
Cade summarized the recent situation and mentioned that butler Nicho would soon come over to help.
Upon hearing the word butler, Kendric frowned, “why him?”
He was starting to develop an aversion to the word “butler.”
Poor Nicho, who was still on his way to get here, had already been labeled as unqualified by his boss..
Since Kendric disagreed, Cade was considering finding a replacement.
Celeste suddenly spoke up, “you don’t like Nicho? Or you just hate the word butler?”

As expected, Kendric fell silent.
Celeste rolled her eyes, “Kendric, you’re damn childish.”
In the end, Nicho still stayed to help.
Around nine o’clock in the evening, Celeste went to check on Caleb once
again. When she came back, she made a call to her father.
Myles answered the phone promptly. He eagerly asked when Celeste would
return.
“Dad, I might have to stay here for a while longer.”
Myles expressed his disagreement, “Cely, Mr. Caleb Melville is critically ill,
and I understand your feelings, but you’ve already been there for four days. I
believe he has already sensed your kindness.”
Celeste–explained the complexities behind these matters, “Grandpa is critically ill, and Kendric just underwent a surgery yesterday. Many people got wind about it now, and they are all rushing over.”
With a few words, Myles got her imply.
“Have you thought it through? Do you really want to get involved in this
mess?”
“Dad, I’ve made my choice.”
Myles sighed, “Cely, don’t act impulsively. If you choose to stand by Kendric this time… from now on, you may never escape that identity as his fiancee, even wife.”
“Dad, I know what I am doing.”

Myles failed to suppress his wrath and burst out, “no, you don’t! You think
those unscrupulous jerks are easy to deal with? They’re all eagerly waiting to
seize power from Kendric Melville. And that fucking Kendric! He won’t hesitate.
to use any means to bind you to his side!”
“And let’s not forget, it was you who initially rejected his proposal. Now,
you’re actively reconciled with him. How do you think others will think of perceive you? You’re demeaning yourself!”
Celeste hung her head in depression, “dad, I know it. I know all of that, but if I just leave like this, I’ll regret it.”
“I WILL NEVER AGREE YOU TO DO IT!” he snarled.
“Dad, I choose to stay, but it doesn’t mean I’m compromising to Kendric. If he forcibly goes against my will again, I will resist.”
“You finally got a chance to go abroad, and now you’re running back to that cage. That rascal Kendric has a bag full of tricks. He exploits your kindness and keeps playing these mind games over and over. I’m gonna break that brat’s legs.”
“Dad!” Celeste raised her voice, cutting him off.
Myles’s words were too harsh, and even though Celeste felt upset, she couldn’t bring herself to hurt her father’s feelings. “Dad, please, stop.”
“Don’t underestimate Kendric. He is full of cunning and deceit. He’s a real schemer with all sorts of tricks…”
Someone snatched the phone from Celeste’s hand.
Kendric, with the help of Cade, stood behind her.

He said to Myles, “Mr. Alinsky.”
Kendric was originally in a video conference, but he kept thinking why
Celeste hadn’t come back.
He hastily ended the conference and walked out, and in the corridor he
could overhear Celeste engaged in a phone conversation.
He wasn’t shocked that Myles disagree Celeste to be with him.
“Mr. Alinsky, you can trust me. I’ll make sure Celeste is safe here. I’ll protect
her.”
Myles snorted with a sardonic laugh “Protect her? When the days she lived.
in your family, you failed to protect her properly. And now, how do you protect
her in such chaos?”
Kendric knew arguments would only worsen the situation. Thus, he
maintained a sincère tone.
“I admit my past mistakes. I was too engrossed in my work and didn’t take
good care of Celeste. This led to her enduring a lot of suffering. I promise, from
now on, such things won’t happen again.”
Myles knew very well that Kendric was taking use of Celeste’s soft–hearted personality, but he couldn’t figure out how to outmaneuver him.
“Kendric, if you genuinely cares for her, you shouldn’t let her be trapped in such a dangerous situation. You should let her have the freedom to do whatever she wants. Don’t use your grandfather’s illness to play the sympathy card.”
Kendric cast a glance at Celeste, who stood beside with a worried
expression. She was conflicted because she didn’t wanna see either Kendric or

her father to be hurt.
Though Kendric wished for her to make a choice, he knew it would cause
her great pain.
He decided to compromise, “the day after tomorrow. Mr. Alinsky, on the
evening of the day after tomorrow, I’ll send Celeste back. She’ll still enjoy her
