Emilia’s words were concise but incredibly authoritative.
The entire conference room fell into an immediate silence, and those who had been critical of Emilia moments ago now sat in silence.
Except for the board of directors, the heir of the Saunders family possessed the authority to terminate anyone’s employment.
Dismissing Zack from his position was a straightforward matter for Emilia.
Agitated by his dismissal, Zack turned to Jason, seeking his support. “Mr. Yates, what do you say? Are you letting her fire me?”
After all, Zack had been a long–serving employee at the company and had worked alongside Jason for many years. He didn’t believe that Jason wouldn’t come to his aid.
Jason, however, regarded Emilia with her determined and cold demeanor. He shifted his gaze to Zack and replied evenly, “I am no longer the chairman. If Ms. Saunders has decided to dismiss you, you should proceed with the resignation formalities accordingly.”
Emilia had only recently arrived at the company, and Jason wasn’t willing to confront her without understanding her intentions.
Zack’s face turned red with anger. He was about to launch a tirade when Jason’s secretary promptly escorted him out of the room.
Although the senior executives were displeased with Emilia, they were also taken aback by her swift and resolute actions.
They cared more about retaining their jobs than challenging her authority and had no desire to end up in a situation similar to Zack’s.
Seeing the reactions of her senior executives, Emilia allowed herself a small smirk.
I have a short temper and little patience for baseless opposition. I hope this serves as a warning to everyone. Once I’m satisfied there are not issues with the project, I will naturally allow it to proceed. I trust you all ~ understand. Let’s conclude the meeting.”
After exiting the company, Emilia hailed a taxi and headed straight for the nunsion she used to call home..
For the past three years, she had refrained from returning to this place. even after regaining her memories.
She had feared the emotions it would stir within her.
However, Callen had informed her that he was concerned Victoria’s family would take over the property that rightfully belonged to Emilia. and her mother, so he had her cousins guarding the mansion on her behalf.
Moving back meant that she could reconnect with her cousins, even if her schedule got busy.
It would also be comforting to live alongside her cousins, and loneliness. wouldn’t be such a burden.
However, Victoria and Jason lived right next door. That meant frequent encounters were inevitable.
As she thought of this, Emilia’s soft gaze turned icy.
Upon her return to the mansion, she was halted by the security guard at the gate.
“Stop right there!” The guard, dressed in a dark green uniform, called out to Emilia, stopping her in her tracks.
The guard thought she looked out of place, clad in a business suit, and believed her to be of modest means as she got out of a taxi. He sneered, “This is an upscale residential area. Do you really think you can enter here just like that? Move along…
Emilia glanced at her family’s home and then at the security guard. “I’m the owner of this house. My last name is Saunders.”
“Haha!” The security guard chuckled as if he’d heard a great joke. “You sure talk big for someone so young. Can you even afford a house in this neighborhood? Beat it, don’t obstruct my work!”
As he spoke, the guard reached out his rough hand, intending to grab Emilia.
Emilia’s eyes darkened, and she was ready to employ the silver needle hidden on her fingertip.
Stop! She’s Ms. Emily Saunders! What are you doing?”
Commanding voice interrupted them abruptly
The security guard looked back and was met with a group of
housekeepers rapidly approaching the entrance. They arranged themselves in two neat rows as if they were receiving a very important
The security guard’s face turned ashen with fear.
“Ms. Emily Saunders? Ms. Saunders, I didn’t mean it! Please forgive me
As he spoke, the security guard knelt before Emilia, his face filled with remorse and obsequiousness.
However, Emilia didn’t spare him a glance. She casually adjusted the cuffs of her sleeves and uttered in a flat tone, “Our family doesn’t tolerate sycophants and bullies.”
As Emilia concluded her statement, two burly men appeared and promptly dragged the security guard away.
Only then did Emilia direct her attention to the butler, Luka, who had tears welling up in his eyes.
“Welcome home, Ms. Saunders, Luka choked out.
As his words hung in the air, a chorus of respectful voices followed. “Welcome home, Ms. Saunders!”
Even if the housekeepers weren’t familiar with Emilia, they displayed the utmost respect at that moment, fearing that they might be the next ones to be dragged away.
Emilia gave a slight nod in acknowledgment and patted Luka’s arm gently. “It must’ve been hard on you over the years, Luka.”
After the brief welcome, the housekeepers dispersed, and Luka guided Emilia to her former bedroom.
Upon entering, Emilia found everything exactly as she had left it. Even the magazine on the bedside table was in the same position as it had been years ago.
She knew that it was her cousin, Jacob Gibson, who had maintained the
With this realization, warmth welled up in her heart.
Despite her misguided affection for Nathan and her past quarrels with
Jacob, he continued to care for her just as he had before.
Here, in her family’s home, Emilia finally felt the comforting embrace of true belonging.
While her home offered a tranquil sanctuary, chaos reigned elsewhere.
On a winding mountain road, two cars were engaged in a high–speed chase. The red and blue vehicles blurred as they sped along, turning the championship race into a life–or–death struggle.
These drivers had dedicated their entire careers to attaining the glory symbolized by this once–in–a–decade race. Every spectator held their breath, captivated by the fierce competition. They dared not breathe, fearing they’d miss a single second of the race.
Behind the wheel of the red racing car was Jacob, his expression a mix of determination and arrogance. A relaxed smile graced his handsome face as he cast a glance back at the blue car behind the curve.
Victory in the championship was within his grasp!
Suddenly, a message sounded on his headset. “You have a message from Luka. Do you want to accept it?”
Jacob replied, “Yes, go ahead.”
He thought, “Perhaps Luka wants me to prioritize safety or something of the sort.”
The message from Luka quickly followed. “Mr. Jacob Gibson, Ms. Saunders has returned.”
Jacob’s captivating eyes instantly lit up with excitement when he heard.
He thought, “Lia is back!”
Without hesitation, he gently turned the steering wheel.
On the large screen in the auditorium, the red racing car, which had already secured a considerable lead, veered off the track abruptly!
At the same moment, Jacob’s racing friend’s voice crackled through his headset in anger. “What are you doing Are you insane? This is the Epea inals! You’ll be disqualified for abandoning the race!”
Jacob, his voice magnetic and filled with longing, responded, “Lia is back.
I want to be the first to see her!”
“Didn’t you cut all ties with her? Why are you rushing back the moment she returns? You can finish the race in half an hour at your speed. Can’t you wait for just half an hour?”
Jacob’s friend was clearly disappointed, and Jacob could even hear the frustration in his voice.
Jacob, however, didn’t agree and interrupted. “In my heart, Lia is more. important than the championship. Forget it. People like you, who are without a sister, wouldn’t be able to understand!”
With that, he hung up, leaving his friend contemplating, “Is having at sister really that great?”
Meanwhile, Emilia was completely oblivious to what was happening on the race track and remained lost in thought as she gazed at the family photo in her hands.
In the picture, everyone wore radiant smiles.
Back then, her mother was not yet in a vegetative state, her father and brother were alive, and she lived carefree days. They were, at that time, the happiest family in the world.
If it weren’t for that tragic car accident, she would still have a perfect family.
Her determination to find the killer and bring them to justice burned stronger than ever.
Images of that fateful night played vividly in Emilia’s mind once again. She remembered the reassuring and protective embrace, but also the man who had forgotten her.
Despite everything, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude toward Nathan. Perhaps it was best for them to go their separate ways from now
As she was lost in her thoughts, the sound of a ringing phone snapped Emilia back to the present moment.
“Emilia, did you see it?”
