“It’s not a life–threatening issue. He seems to be looking for a specific video, but I am not sure about the details.”
Raymond waved his hand quickly to stop Emilia’s rambling thoughts.
Emilia gradually let go of her concerns, but a tinge of curiosity lingered.
“What video is Norman looking for that could delay his return to the country?” she wondered.
After all, Norman was known for standing by his word. Nothing could stop him unless it was something extremely important.
“Maybe I should ask him about it sometime.”
Emilia felt a pang of bitterness and a mix of emotions flood her heart just thinking about Norman’s decision to rush back to the country as soon as news of her divorce from Nathan broke.
“You do not need to be concerned about Mr. Norman Gibson’s affairs, Emily. He cares the most about you. Everything else is secondary as long as you are fine.”
Thinking about how the three sons of the Gibson family valued Emilia, Raymond smiled with satisfaction.
Fortunately, after Jonah died, there were members of the Gibson family looking out for Emilia. Otherwise, even if Emilia had extraordinary abilities, she could have been completely devoured by the cunning and ruthless people of the Saunders Group.
Emilia nodded and stepped into the CEO’s private elevator in her diamond–studded high heels.
Before the elevator doors closed, she said to Raymond, “Mr.
Zimmerman, tomorrow I’ll be attending an auction with Hayden, and I’m afraid I won’t be in the office for most of the day.”
“Understood. I’ll handle things here.” Raymond nodded in response.
While Emilia was on her way to her office to handle company affairs on her own, she was unaware that Jason was watching the direction of the elevator with a cold gaze from the corner of the lobby.
Despite the fact that he had been with Saunders Group for many years.
he had never dared to use the CEO’s private elevator.
In fact, he had to go to the floor below the CEO’s office first and use the stairs each time he needed to go to the CEO’s office.
Emilia’s brazen behavior astounded him.
The door to the CEO’s office was rudely pushed open. Emilia raised an eyebrow irritably as she looked at the intruder.
“Uncle Jason, don’t you know you should knock before you enter?”
Emilia was aware of Jason’s schemes, but he did not appear to want to confront her openly for the time being.
In fact, that was indeed the case.
Jason’s expression darkened. He was irritated after being chastised by his niece, but he kept quiet about it.
He slammed a stack of documents onto Emilia’s desk.
“This is the second half of the project initiation data!”
Unobtrusively, Jason walked to the couch in the office, sat arrogantly, and lifted his chin, casting a contemptuous glance at Emilia.
He didn’t believe that Emilia could find any flaws in the project and stop it.
“Emilia! I’m not trying to scare you, but the initiation data for this project is extensive. Because you took over later, it will most likely require a significant amount of effort. Why are you being so obstinate? Why not just go ahead with what I have suggested since I have already planned it?”
It did not matter if Emilia remained the company’s chairwoman as long as the project proceeded as planned.
After all, it was just a shell company, and he could not care less what she wanted to do.
Emilia flipped through the documents Jason had just sent her and looked at them coldly.
Instantly, she noticed that the data on the documents was complicated,
particularly certain parts that appeared to be intentionally scrambled, and she immediately sneered silently.
“Do they really think I would yield to such petty tactics?” she remarked inwardly.
“The scope of this project is extensive, and as the chairwoman, I must naturally personally supervise it. Uncle Jason, you don’t need to worry. Instead, you should consider how to deal with past financial issues when I begin investigating them!”
After saying that, Emilia continued to review the documents, not even sparing a glance at Jason.
Hearing Emilia’s words, Jason panicked. He abruptly stood up and menacingly pointed his finger at her.
Seeing that she didn’t even glance at him, he forced a rather ugly smile and said, “What could be wrong with the financial accounts? Emily, don’t you trust me?”
When Emilia heard that, a hint of mockery flashed across her eyes. “Of course, I believe you. Otherwise, how could I have trusted you to run the company on my behalf for so long?”
Despite the way she put it, Jason was not a simpleton.
He felt somewhat embarrassed and enraged by Emilia’s blatant mockery.
“You better focus on handling the current project properly! Don’t think
will be able to find an excuse to stop it so easily! Emilia, let’s see how capable you really are!”
With those words, Jason swung his hand down, causing a gust of wind, and stormed out of the CEO’s office, enraged.
With a gloomy expression, Emilia watched the door close.
“There is definitely something wrong with this project! I must intercept it!” she mused.
As soon as Jason left the CEO’s office, his phone vibrated. He opened it and noticed that he had received a message.
Speak!” In a fit of rage, Jason sat down in his chair and firmly prevented it from swaying. He rested his hands on his knees, looked up at the
person who just entered, and asked, “I sent you to investigate what Emilia has been up to for the past ten years. Where is the information?”
Hearing Jason’s question, the person who had just entered looked somewhat hesitant.
“I’ve truly invested a tremendous amount of effort into inquiring, but, for some reason, this person seems to have completely disappeared over the past ten years. I—”
“So, you didn’t find anything at all!” Jason cut off that person’s words without hesitation.
“That’s not true! I did discover something, but it was not from ten years ago. It is a video from a few days ago,” the individual quickly denied.
The person waved their hands and hurriedly handed over a tablet. A video was playing on it.
Emilia would undoubtedly recognize it if she were present. It was a video of her and Simon dancing in a bar together.
Even Jason, who was nearly 50 years old, could not help but notice Emilia in the center of the dance floor, who appeared to be an
enchanting seductress, hot and captivating.
“How could the dignified chairwoman of Saunders Group provocatively
dance in a bar? She has no shame!”
With a bang, Jason threw the tablet onto his desk angrily. “I paid you a lot of money, and all you found is this video?”
Needless to say, he was extremely dissatisfied with the findings of the investigation.
“I–I will continue to investigate! But I feel like I ran into roadblocks everywhere during my investigation. It was as if someone was trying to stop me from investigating, so-”
The person in charge of investigating Emilia was also troubled. After all, he had spent the money but had come up empty–handed.
Without valuable information to report to Jason, he was unable to secure additional investment, putting him in a difficult situation.
I don’t want to hear your excuses, Jason interrupted.
His attention was drawn to the video that was still playing on the tablet.
The next moment, he appeared to have had a bright idea, as his gaze darkened and a sinister smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
“Since you’re in this line of work, you should have a lot of connections with the media, right?”
