Chapter 2
Emilia nodded, forcefully holding back the tears that welled up in her
eyes.
Hayden’s slender fingers gripped the steering wheel as he observed her. delicate expression in the rearview mirror, feeling a pang of distress.
With one hand on the wheel, he handed a latte to Emilia, who sat in the
passenger seat.
He remembered that she favored this particular brand of latte. On his way to pick her up, he had intentionally made a stop to buy one, and it was still warm.
Emilia glanced at Hayden, touched by his thoughtfulness. She took a large sip from the cup, immediately feeling the warmth spread throughout her body.
As her expression softened, Hayden decided it was time to speak.
“Where would you like to go? Perhaps your Uncle Callen’s place? I’m worried about you being alone.”
His words snapped Emilia out of her ruminations about divorce.
Her gaze, once distant, slowly turned cold as she stared at the night sky.
“I’ll return to my own home,” she replied, her voice firm. “And please, don’t inform my uncle and cousins about the divorce between Nathan and me.
A tragic accident had shattered her once–happy family a decade ago.
Her father and brother had perished on the spot, and her mother had fallen into a persistent vegetative state
To this day, her mother lay in a hospital bed, dependent on various medical devices to survive.
Since that fateful day, all of the Saunders family’s assets came under the control of Emilia’s paternal aunt, Victoria, and her uncle–in–law, Jason Yates.

To make matters worse, she had lost her memory after the accident.
It wasn’t until three years ago that she had managed to recover her memories and successfully reconnect with her maternal uncle.
“Do you have any plans moving forward?” Hayden inquired.
Emilia remained silent for a few moments before responding, her gaze determined. “For the past two years, I’ve been investigating my parents‘ car accident. Although I haven’t uncovered many leads, I’ve come to believe that my parents‘ accident was connected to my Aunt Victoria and Uncle Jason.”
She clenched her fists, the hatred in her eyes underscored by a steely
resolve.
“I want to uncover the truth behind the car accident, reclaim everything that rightfully belongs to me, and ensure those who harmed my parents face the consequences they deserve.”
Emilia had matured, and now she felt it was the right moment to confront her past and those who had wronged her.
Hayden focused on driving, his thin lips pressed into a tight line as he grappled with his distress. “Do you need my assistance?”
“No need. I’ll reach out when I do.” Emilia leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes. “But before I return home, I’ll go to City Hall with Nathan and finalize our divorce.”
Hayden dropped Emilia off at the home she had purchased three years ago and left.
The house was impeccably clean, even though she hadn’t lived there for some time. The housekeeper came weekly to maintain it. Emilia changed the sheets and settled onto the bed.
Everything from her past played like a movie in her mind, flashing before her eyes repeatedly.
Emilia had kept her tears at bay throughout the journey, but now, they flowed uncontrollably, one after the other.
On the surface, it might have seemed like she didn’t care about divorcing Nathan.
However, deep down, she knew that she had been married to Nathan fat

three years and had loved him for a decade. It was hard for her to believe. that she wasn’t feeling any sadness as they headed toward divorce.
She wiped away her tears and then turned to her computer, erasing all traces and information related to her presence in the Miller family.
Her eyes held a mix of pain and determination as she cut off everything. She whispered, “Nathan, from now on, I won’t love you anymore…”
The next morning, Emilia woke up at seven o’clock.
She went through her morning routine, had breakfast, changed into a fresh outfit, and applied flawless makeup.
Afterward, she messaged Nathan, arranging the divorce appointment.
Hayden’s car conveniently pulled up in front of her house as she stepped outside.
He drove Emilia to City Hall. When Emilia got off, she felt cold for no
reason.
A gust of cold wind blew past the thin and delicate Emilia, making her shiver involuntarily and clutch the edges of her clothing.
“Don’t catch a cold,” Hayden said, quickly removing his coat and draping, it over Emilia’s shoulders with a stretch of his arm.
She rubbed her hands together and offered him a grateful smile. “Thank you.”
At that moment, another luxurious car pulled up at the entrance of City Hall.
Emilia and Hayden turned their attention to the vehicle.
Shawn Larson, Nathan’s secretary, opened the door, and Nathan stepped out. He was dressed in his usual suit and leather shoes, exuding an air of restraint and indifference. His natural elegance and nobility contrasted with his icy eyes, giving him an overall aura of coldness.
Nathan’s gaze fell upon Emilia, who was dressed beautifully for the occasion. Her eyes were large, clear, and enchanting.
Beside her stood a devilishly handsome man. Nathan narrowed his eyes lightly
He had thought Emilia wouldn’t come to proceed with the divorce,

considering the scene she had caused the day before. Little did he expect that not only would she arrive, but she would also bring someone along… A handsome man, no less.
Hayden squinted his eyes, his demeanor turning chilly. He thought to himself, “So, this is Nathan. He may look decent, but his actions are worse than those of a scoundrel.”
He was about to approach Nathan, perhaps to initiate a “greeting,” but Emilia halted him..
“There are many eyes around during the day. Go back to your car for now. I’ll come out once we’re finished here.”
Hayden, a well–known celebrity, might attract unwanted attention if he lingered around.
He shifted his gaze from Nathan to Emilia, offering a warm smile. “All right, I’ll wait for you.”
Subsequently, Hayden returned to his car, leaving Emilia and Nathan behind.
Nathan observed their seemingly affectionate interactions with
indifference, but behind his facade, there was a trace of displeasure. He watched as Hayden climbed into an expensive limited–edition sports car, and a flicker of annoyance flashed in his eyes.
Emilia had brought a random man along and appeared in front of him even before their divorce was finalized.
If anyone saw this, it could lead to rumors of infidelity, potentially tarnishing the company’s image.
“You should conduct yourself appropriately until our divorce is finalized, Emilia. I have no desire to become the protagonist of some scandal.”
With those words, he entered the City Hall.
Emilia sensed the underlying sarcasm in his tone, and her heart ached. Still, she remained silent and followed him into the building to go through the formalities, her high heels clicking on the floor
In the Notary Office, Emilia swiftly reviewed the divorce agreement and signed it, then looked at Nathan.
