Chapter 151
Chapter 151
“You’d better think twice, Mr. Miller. The hotel’s surveillance cameras are going to catch all of these. I guarantee you the media will be informed of it within a couple of hours once your fist touches me.”
Not an ounce of fear was etched on Martin’s visage. The men stared down at each other the entire
while.
The Miller family valued their reputation the most, not to mention they had Miller Group to take into account, so any bad news related to them could lead to company share price volatility.
Nathan scrunched his fist into a ball of fury, to the extent where the cracking sounds of the joints rang out. In the end, he did not punch Martin.
All he did next was warn Martin with a grim countenance, “Perish the thought you shouldn’t be having. Emilia will never belong to you. Stay away from her!”
“You’re the one who ought to stay away from her.” Martin’s captivating eyes were shining with ridicule. “Lia doesn’t even want to talk to you, but she’s willing to be with me. For goodness‘ sake, Mr. Miller, stop interfering with her life and mind your own business.”
Martin departed from the hotel upon dropping his speech.
Seeing that Nathan clenched his fist so hard, so much so that the veins on the man’s arm were bulging, Jessica could not help but go forward to comfort him softly, “Don’t, Nathan… It’s not worth it.”
She tried to pry open Nathan’s fist but in vain. She then held his hand instead and sported a considerate front while she whispered in the man’s ear, “No matter what happens, I’m here for you…” Before she took it further, Nathan pulled away his hand, seemingly indifferent.
“You shouldn’t be here. Head back early.”
Nathan was in a bad mood. Not only did he have a software bidding to see to the next day, but he also could not resist thinking about Emilia. He naturally had no time or the patience to deal with Jessica. Jessica noticed his displeasure. As gingerly as she could, she tugged at the man’s sleeve, resorting to girlish coquetry and acting out of grievance.
“I just got here, Nathan. Are you chasing me away already? It’s been a long journey for me, and I only wanted to drop by to see you…”
Nathan pulled away his sleeve, but when her aggrieved look came into sight, his expression softened slightly.
What happened between him and Emilia might have upset him, but that had nothing to do with Jessica. He thought that he really should not have taken it out on her.
“Sorry.”
Feeling a headache, Nathan rubbed the space between his brows and began to brood over a way to pacify Jessica. Judging by their relationship at that point, being alone with each other was not viable for them.
Jessica, for one, was aware that Nathan only put up with her because she had saved his life. As a result, she did not have the gall to cross the line. The only things she could try were to test the waters and fish for sympathy.
“I’m hungry, Nathan… I didn’t eat anything on the plane today. I came to you right after getting off the plane, so my stomach’s still empty until now. You’ll take responsibility, won’t you?”
The man secretly frowned, for Jessica sounded way too odd.
He took yet another gander at Emilia’s closed door before replying, “Let’s go.”

Jessica was overjoyed, and hurriedly raised her voice, trying to let Emilia hear her.
“I knew you were the best! I just checked, Nathan, that the king crab served in this hotel restaurant is very fresh, and it’s your favorite! Plus, you also said you’d be willing to peel crabs for me all my life…”
“Jessica,” Nathan called out her name without any emotion. Obviously, he did not want to hear another word from her. Impatience was written all over his face.
“Don’t bring up the past anymore.”
Instead of becoming discouraged, Jessica chuckled. “Okay, we’ll only look at the future, then, and forget the past.”
She might have meant that at face value, but to Emilia, it implied a whole new level of significance. If anything, she was wondering how a high–end hotel like that in Acocester had such poor sound insulation. Either that, or Jessica’s loud vocal must come naturally to her, or so she reckoned.
She could reach no conclusion, but she was certain that Jessica had deliberately said those words to her.
Moreover, Nathan’s response sounded like whatever happened in the past was history. It was time for the two of them to bury the hatchet and move on.
Perhaps it was for the best. As the saying went–every Jack had his Jill. If that was the case, Nathan would be leaving her alone from then onward.

Also, Emilia did not want her own mood to be ruined by some scoundrel. Then again, she was indeed a tad turned off a minute ago.
She simply hoped that Jessica’s “madness” would come to an end. Never would she want Jessica to think that she was stealing Nathan away every time they crossed paths.
Putting on her earplugs, Emilia could not care less about the fuss outside the door as she buried her head into the documents Raymond had just sent.
“Man is nothing. Who needs one when pursuing a career is more realistic?” she pondered.
Little did she expect her phone to light up with Jacob’s avatar flashing on the screen when she was halfway through reading the files.
In truth, Emilia was not keen on picking up the call, for she could almost predict what Jacob was going to say.
After a long time, she still answered it and put him through the video call.
As soon as she launched the video call, she was greeted by Jacob’s close–up face filling the entire screen. Subconsciously, all her negative emotions owing to a scumbag–and–bitch duo dissipated by a great deal.
She could not help taking a screenshot and sending over a photo of Jacob’s hideous look. “Count yourself lucky that I’m on this side of the video call. Had it been somebody else, the image of the handsome Jacob would’ve been destroyed.” She guffawed at that.
