Chapter 134
Everyone looked at Nathan and then Martin. They thought Nathan was staring at Emilia and Martin unkindly as if he could erupt at any moment.
“All right, Lia. Let’s go.”
After resolving the aftermath, Martin winked at Emilia. This kind of gesture, often done in a greasy manner by most men, somehow looked very graceful when he did it. Emilia couldn’t help but marvel at his exceptional looks.
“Enough already. Let go of me! I can walk on my own.” Emilia still felt uncomfortable being held by him, so she asked him to release her.
They were speaking softly, and no one else could hear. Martin pretended to be wounded, clutching his heart dramatically. “Lia, I just helped you out of a difficult situation, and now you want to kick me away? You’re hurting my feelings!”
“You’re overreacting,” Emilia said indifferently.
“Okay, I won’t tease you anymore,” Martin said seriously. “I’ll take you to the front row for the best view.”
Without giving Emilia a chance to refuse, he led her past the others and directly to the middle seat in the front row, seating her down. He took the seat next to her.
Emilia noticed that this was where the organizers and some invited media were seated. She wanted to move to the back, but Martin stopped her.
“You’re my special guest. No need to move.
The man still held Emilia’s arm, and she had no choice but to say, “This time, I came to the summit as a regular invited guest. If you stay, it will seem like I got the software through special privileges, and people will question if I used connections.”
Hearing this, Martin smiled. “It’s not that I can’t give you some special privileges…”
“Martin.” Emilia called his name seriously and said coldly, “Please don’t. You’re already making it difficult for me through the public opinion of me. I can achieve things on my
own.”
Hearing this, Martin stopped laughing.
He understood Emilia’s mindset very well.
Ever since they met, he had known she was strong–willed. If she wanted to achieve. something, she would rely on her abilities to do it.
Nonetheless, he wished he could tell her that she did not need to be so strong and that he could help her and protect her.
Yet, he had never said it, and even if he wanted to, it could only be in a joking manner, just
like now.
After a brief pause, Martin said seriously, “All right. I understand.
Just as he finished speaking, he returned to his playful demeanor and nudged Emilia with his elbow. “Lia, can’t you be a little less strong–willed? Give us men a chance to shine, at least…

Chapter 134
Emilia tilted her head slightly, puzzled. “What chance?”
As Martin saw her confused expression, his smile grew even wider, and he couldn’t resist ruffling her hair. “I’ve figured it out. You’re a tough nut to crack.”
Emilia was rendered speechless.
As they had been whispering all along, Emilia had unconsciously leaned toward Martin to hear him better. Martin had also leaned in closer to her.
This scene did not go unnoticed by Nathan, and it made him increasingly annoyed, especially when he saw Emilia’s alternating expressions of lowered eyebrows and smiling lips. He did not like it one bit.
When Nathan finally came to his senses, he found himself standing in front of Emilia.
Sensing that there was a dark cloud hanging over her head, Emilia raised her head and looked at Nathan. Her good mood evaporated instantly. She wore a cold expression as she asked, “Mr. Miller, is there something you need?”
Nathan moved his lips, feeling an inexplicable dryness in his throat as if something was choking him. Speaking seemed unexpectedly difficult.
“If there’s nothing, please move aside. You’re blocking the light,” she said.
For some reason, when he said this, Nathan felt nervous, which he did not expect. He did not want to hear a rejection from her.
