Chapter 107
Nathan sneered and glanced at Adrian coldly.
“I warn you, don’t talk nonsense here. I’m just upset about her ruining my cooperation, and I can’t stand how she flirts with other men just a month after getting divorced.”
When it came to attracting attention, a sudden image of Emilia assisting Simon with his tie in the Mogllo Karlo store appeared in Nathan’s mind.
In the past, many of Nathan’s ties were prepared by Emilia.
Back then, she took out the box excitedly, placed it before him, and urged him to try it. She even wanted to personally help him wear the tie, but he ruthlessly rejected her every time.
Yet now, she picked a tie for another man and might help another man wear it in the future.
Thinking of that, Nathan’s expression became gloomier.
Adrian, who was sitting on the side, felt the low pressure all around and could not help but shiver.
He thought, “Tsk, tsk! Saying you haven’t fallen for Emilia, you’re really blinded by your own perspective.”
The wine glass was empty. Adrian poured another glass for Nathan and filled his as well. He then raised it and clinked it against the latter’s.
Nathan raised his head and drank it all, which made Adrian worried.
Adrian pondered, “How do I make Nathan more honest?”
Adrian thought for a moment and, intending to probe, said to Nathan, “Nathan, how about giving it another shot with your ex–wife? Emilia’s really attractive! With her looks and figure, I don’t know how many people she charmed at the bar the other night.”
Even though it had been so long, when thinking back to that night at the bar and seeing Emilia dance, Adrian could not help but exclaim, “A true beauty of this world.”
If Emilia had not been his ex–sister–in–law, Adrian would have gone after her.
Hearing Adrian mention the incident at the bar, Nathan also recalled Emilia on the dance floor, and his face darkened.
He scoffed and glanced at Adrian, “You’re not very picky, are you?”
Adrian thought, “Yes, yes! And you’re always so stubborn.”
Adrian took a sip of the wine and further attempted to assist Nathan in seeing his true feelings.
“Nathan, I’m just kidding. I don’t dare to covet Emilia. But speaking of which, if we put aside her appearance and figure, her wealth is something many people would die for. She’s the daughter of the Saunders family and the chairman of Saunders Group. Plus, she has three brothers from the Gibson family backing her up. Why don’t you consider getting her back? Being an ideal son–in–law isn’t a bad idea, is it?”
It was originally a joke, but the few words “give it another shot” seemed to prick Nathan’s heart like a thorn.
“What do you think? Do you need my assistance, buddy?”
Adrian curled his lips and laughed as if he wanted to stir up trouble in the world.
Nathan glanced at him indifferently. “If you continue to talk so much, I’ll let your grandfather send you to Alendor to do mining.”
Regardless of whether he considered getting Emilia back, Emilia had no choice but to reconcile with him if he wanted to.
Adrian was intimidated by the coldness emanating from Nathan and immediately shrunk his neck, feeling apprehensive.
“Okay, okay, you don’t need to go knocking on doors. Among all the suitors for Emilia, you’re the strongest contender. With the power of Miller Group, you don’t even need to try. You can easily outshine those competitors!”
Upon hearing that, Nathan’s expression eased slightly, and he did not even refute Adrian’s categorization of him as one of Emilia’s suitors.
Adrian thought, “See, see, isn’t it obvious enough? With Nathan being so secretive, when will he ever win back Emilia?”
As an outsider, he noticed the changes in Nathan.
In the past, Nathan did not care about what Emilia said or did. To him,
that woman was just slightly more no ceable than air. Yet, now, he was ctually getting agitated because she was socializing with other men.
“Nathan, have you ever fallen in love with Emilia?”
“No,” Nathan drank the wine and answered the question without hesitation.
After saying that, he suddenly recalled how she confessed she liked him. When he questioned her about the fake pregnancy, her disappointed and aggrieved expression…
“Damn it,” Nathan cursed secretly.
He wondered why he thought of Emilia again. He was going crazy.
Nathan added quite a few ice cubes to his wine, consumed most of it, and used the coolness of the ice to help himself calm down.
After a long time, his expression returned to its usual cold and distant demeanor.
The man, with his long and sleek fingers, lightly toyed with the wine glass for quite some time before casually asking Adrian, “If your ex–girlfriend told you she had been pregnant with your child and had a miscarriage, but you had always believed it was a false pregnancy,
misunderstanding her for years and hurting her deeply, what would you
do?”
Hearing that, Adrian was stunned and then shot Nathan a meaningful glance.
“It can’t be you, right?”
The expression in Nathan’s eyes remained calm, and he remained silent.
Adrian misunderstood and thought Nathan was talking about someone else. He pointed angrily at the air and scolded indignantly, “Such a scumbag deserves no easy forgiveness. He must apologize and beg on his knees for repentance!”
Nathan was speechless.
