Chapter 102
Nathan! Are you out of your mind?”
Emilia’s eyes flashed with anger. It pulled Nathan back to his senses. He curved his lips, wearing a smile that sent shivers down her spine, and his gaze turned icy and terrifying.
“Why refuse now? Wasn’t this what you desired most before?” He calmly wiped away the droplets of blood from his lips, and his face had an eerie expression. “What’s this? Have you suddenly turned into a virtuous woman? Weren’t you the one who claimed to have married me because you liked me? Is this what you called affection?”
Seeing Nathan’s appearance, combined with the recent passionate clash of their lips, Emilia began to feel a hint of fear creeping over her.
She maintained a distance from Nathan and looked at him coldly. We have no relationship anymore, and I don’t need to prove my past affection for you.”
Emilia emphasized the word “past” firmly.
She wanted Nathan to fully understand that they were no longer connected.
Nathan frowned slightly and began walking toward Emilia, but she kept stepping back.
Nathan halted and stopped approaching Emilia.
A cynical smile crossed his lips as he spoke. “Emilia, it has been less than a month since our divorce, and you’re already enjoying yourself with other men, letting go of our past so quickly. Your affection seems rather short–lived.”
Emilia was stunned for a second.
“Short–lived? Does he think I only loved him for a year?” she thought.
Emilia felt the situation was ridiculous and could not help feeling sorry for herself. Her expression shifted from a bitter smile to ice–cold detachment.
She lowered her gaze and said in a faint tone, “Nathan, how can you stand on a moral high ground and accuse me? Who was the first to engage with someone else while we were still married? Who was the first
be ambiguous with other women?”
Hearing Emilia’s accusations, Nathan suddenly remembered the subtle remarks made by Shawn.
When a woman frequently mentioned other women in front of a man, it usually meant she was jealous.
Although Nathan did not think Emilia was the jealous type, her current behavior piqued his curiosity. “So you do care about my involvement with Jessica?” he inquired, narrowing his eyes.
Emilia frowned, thinking, “Why is he asking this? What is his purpose?”
Emilia curled her lips and said with an indifferent expression, “You’re overthinking it. Nathan, we’re divorced now, and I only hope that we can go our separate ways from here on. Let’s not cross paths again.”
After saying that, Emilia–had no intention of lingering any longer.
Besides, it was Simon’s birthday, and making him wait any longer would be impolite.
As such, Emilia turned around to leave.
Nathan suddenly felt a rush of restlessness surging within him. He instinctively reached out and grabbed Emilia’s wrist, forcing her to look at him.
Nathan frowned and said unhappily, “Are you in such a hurry to leave and meet another man?”
Emilia gazed at the face she had once been infatuated with and felt an inexplicable distance between them as if an entire galaxy separated their hearts.
“Yeah, she answered.
Emilia just wanted to leave, so she said in an unkind tone, “Nathan, while we were still married, you were entangled with Jessica. Now that we’re divorced, why are you bothering me instead of being with her? Are you that shameless?”
Emilia’s words struck a chord with Nathan, whose expression suddenly appeared dark.
He realized she genuinely despised him.
Nathan’s face became increasingly unsightly.
Emilia easily pushed him away this time. She had no desire to linger in the parking lot any longer.
As Emilia turned to leave, Nathan seemed to remember why he had come to find her in the first place.
“Emilia, you said you didn’t want me to disturb you, so why did you inquire about Miller Group’s business negotiations?”
Emilia halted her steps. Nathan pursed his lips and said with an unpleasant face, “Are you the one who interfered in the cooperation between Miller Group and Anderson Group? Are you the one who asked Yuliana to require the antique porcelain bowl from me?”
Turning back to face Nathan, Emilia met his gaze with unwavering clarity. “Yes, it was me. Is there a problem? If you don’t want to give it to me, I’ll take it back through legitimate means. Is there something wrong with that?”
Nathan was left feeling vexed by her unapologetic tone. “I’ve already given it to you, and you know where it is. Emilia, when did you become. so ruthless and unscrupulous?”
