Chapter 12
“Yes,” replied Brandon.
“So that was his arm, and there were only the two of us in the room,” Mia thought, relieved.
“Then did we… have sex?” she asked, blushing.
He gazed at her red face and teased, “You threw yourself at me last night. You forgot everything you did?”
Hearing that, Mia blushed even more due to her shyness and became angry. “I… I told you to leave. Why didn’t you leave?!”
He raised an eyebrow and said calmly, “That was my room. Why should I leave? You broke in without my permission, and I didn’t accuse you. But you are accusing me now?”
He sat back gracefully, holding the coffee cup with a playful look.
Mia was extremely upset and said gloomily, “Don’t push the blame!”
He smiled. “You sure you want to discuss responsibility with me? You are the one who needs to be completely accountable.”
“Are you crazy? You started the kissing! How dare you accuse me and even hold me accountable?!” She stared at him with confusion and shock. It was her first time being extremely angry to the point where her veins were bulging.
She changed the topic abruptly. She folded her arms and glared as she said angrily, “I didn’t intend to break into your place. I was drugged and had nowhere else to go. You knew I was drugged, but you didn’t help me, and you allowed me to touch you. Is that because you wanted to get physical with me?”
“How dare he try to blame me? Does he take me for a pushover?” she thought.
Brandon laughed mockingly and replied, “You’re too sure of yourself. There are plenty of girls who try to get with me but don’t stand a chance. What makes you think I would hit on a woman who doesn’t have a good figure?”
“I don’t have a good figure?!” Mia was furious. She was in good shape! Despite being a bit thin, she still had curves. He was spewing nonsense!
Brandon was amused. He was teasing her, but she took
words seriously.
“If I want, I can ask a beautiful woman with a great body come over at any time. Ms. Wilson, if you don’t believe me, you can stay and take a look for yourself.” He smiled in a taunting and flirtatious manner.”
“He’s the most shameless person I’ve ever seen! He’s with so many women. Why didn’t he decline the engagement yesterday? He’s just a disloyal jerk,” Mia thought in anger.
As she kept quiet, he turned serious and said, “My point is, I could have multiple partners if I wanted to, but I wouldn’t approach or touch a random woman. That’s not who I am.”
Mia gazed into his eyes. She didn’t know him well, so she found it hard to tell if he was sincere or not..
She took a deep breath and managed to calm herself down.

Chapter 12
She thought, “Forget it. No matter happened last night, I didn’t plan on holding him accountable in the first place. After all, I pressed him down last night. And I have to let it go.”
“Mr. Hall, what happened last night was very embarrassing. It will negatively affect both of us. Plus, we’re engaged. Let’s keep it a secret for our families, okay?” she said earnestly.
“For our families?” Brandon looked at her, marveling at her wit. Although the matter was solely hers, she made it seem like their families were also involved.
“Yeah. If others find out about this, you will lose face too.” Mia looked at him seriously.
“I don’t care. I’m a man,” Brandon said casually.
She took a deep breath, narrowed her eyes, and said slowly, “Then can you keep it a secret for me?”
“For you? Then I can do that.” He took a sip of coffee and looked at her indifferently.
Mia was relieved a bit, but she was still worried.
She was thinking about whether she could trust him, given that they had only met. yesterday.
Brandon seemed to have discerned her worry and said, “You don’t trust me?”
“Of course I do. You’re a man of your word.” She smiled while telling herself that if he were to reveal her secret, she would make him pay.
“I’ve achieved my purpose here. I’ll leave you to go about your work.”
After saying that, she got up and walked to the door. Suddenly, she stopped and said, “Mr. Hall, it’s really hard to reach you on the phone.”
Then she opened the door and left.
Brandon watched her go, a look of admiration on his face. It was the first time a woman spoke to him as an equal. He couldn’t help but exclaim, “She deserves her reputation as the best mercenary.”
It was rare to come across a woman possessing bravery, shrewdness, and charm.
But what did her last sentence mean?
Thinking about it, Brandon suddenly understood. He quickly went to his desk and grabbed his phone to check.
“So this is what she meant,” he said. Then he saved the number he had blocked.
Mia walked out of the Hall Group and received a message from Jango.
[Is this the person you’re looking for?]
Then she received a photo.
She smiled. [That’s him. You’re so good.]
Jango replied with a smile emoji. [Then take a look. I’m your exclusive intelligence agent. Of course I had to complete this small task.]

She thought that nobody was home and was surprised to see Lily waiting in the living room.
“Mia, you’re home. Come and sit with me,” said Lily, beaming with joy.
Mia was not accustomed to such an enthusiastic gesture, but she understood and sat down.
“Did you just return from Brandon’s place?” asked Lily excitedly.
