Chapter 10
After the party ended last night, Simba and Lily intentionally left Mia behind to give. Brandon and her more time together, while they brought Sophia back home. As a result, they were unaware that Mia had not come back last night. They assumed that she had come home late and was still asleep.
“I see.” Sophia glanced at Simba.
She thought, getting angrier, “Mom and Dad don’t know Mia didn’t come home last night. Should I tell them? Will they judge Mia? No, I can’t do that. If they find out Mia was with Brandon last night, they’ll be thrilled. It’ll be easier for Mia and Brandon.”
Lily noticed her staring at her food without eating and said, “Sophia, what are you thinking? Hurry up and eat. You have classes today.”
Sophia came to her senses and smiled. “I don’t have much appetite right now. I’m heading to school. Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad.”
Then she got up, took her bag, and walked out.
“Huh?” Lily was confused as she watched Sophia leave.
“What happened? How come she doesn’t have much appetite?”
“Don’t worry. She’s a grown–up. She can take care of herself.” It was normal for people to sometimes not feel like eating, so Simba wasn’t too worried about it.
“I finished my meal. I’m going to work.” He placed his fork down and walked away from the dining table.
“Stay safe, honey,” Lily said with concern.
“Thanks,” said Simba.
When Sophia walked out of the door, she bumped into Mia who had just come back.
She stopped and looked at Mia, her eyes filled with malice..
She clenched her fits as she thought Mia had spent the night with Brandon and even had. breakfast with him.
“You had breakfast before you returned, didn’t you?” she asked, her tone filled with sarcasm as she narrowed her eyes.
Mia looked at her with impatience. Seeing her so early in the morning was really annoying. “Don’t even bother. We’re not that close.”
Then she ignored Sophia and went inside the house.
Sophia glared at Mia and muttered in a cold tone, “You stole my fiance and seem pretty pleased about it. I swear I will get Brandon back from you.”
“Dad, are you going to work?” Mia asked as she saw Simba putting on his shoes.
“Yes,” Simba replied casually.
Then he suddenly realized he was talking to Mia, who he had thought was sleeping, and

asked in confusion, “You… you went exercising?”
Mia smiled awkwardly and didn’t know how to answer, so she asked, “Uh… where is Mom?”
“In the dining room.”
“Bye, Dad. I’m gonna see Mom now.” Mia headed to the dining room.
Simba stopped putting on his shoes and trailed her to the dining room. He remained doubtful about her return from outside.
In the dining room, Lily had finished her breakfast and was having coffee.
“Mom.”
“Did you sleep well, sweetie?” Lily asked Mia affectionately, assuming she had just headed downstairs.
“Did you forget something, Simba?” she then asked, looking at Simba standing behind Mia. She believed he was coming back to get something.
“No, and get Mia something to eat.” Simba sat down and watched Mia.
“Okay.” Lily quickly made a bowl of porridge and brought it to Mia.
“Thank you, Mom. Mia sat down beside her mother.
Lily realized that Mia was not wearing pajamas and asked, “You’re fully dressed. Are you going to school today?”
“Um… I went out to exercise and just came back. Mia looked at Simba and made up excuse with a smile.
“I see. Morning exercise is good for you.” Lily smiled.
Simba was no longer suspicious.
“Do you have Brandon’s number, Mom? I need to talk to him about a few things, so I’m going to see him today.
Simba and Lily were surprised. They glanced at each other and grinned as if they were about to hear some exciting news.
“Why are you smiling like that? It’s not wha
‘re assuming.”
“Don’t worry. We’re not assuming anything. We are just happy that you want to contact Brandon, Lily said with a loving smile.
“Exactly. And we’ll support you no matter what you decide to do with your relationship with Brandon,” Simba assured.
“Dad…” Mia said, turning to him. She wanted to explain, but he interrupted her.
“I’m texting you Brandon’s phone number now. I can’t stay here while you have breakfast. Your mom’s gonna be with you. I gotta go to work.” Simba shot Mia a grin before leaving.
Mia saw him go and checked her phone for the number. They can think whatever they want. I don’t care. I have the number now. Once I clarify things with Brandon, everything will be sorted out.
Thinking of this, she smiled awkwardly at Lily before returning her attention to the

porridge in front of her.
Without saying anything else, Lily simply sat beside Mia with a smile on her face.
“Would you like another bowl?” she asked cheerfully.
“Thank you, Mom. But I’m full. I’m going upstairs,” said Mia. Then she headed upstairs.
“She might be feeling shy under my gaze,” muttered Lily. She found Mia’s behavior interesting. It reminded her of herself when she was young.
Mia sighed in relief after closing her bedroom door. Brandon was the reason for everything that had happened to her this morning. This was the first time she had felt so embarrassed in her life.
She sat at her computer, seething with anger as she recalled she had been drugged.
“Someone drugged me at the Wilson family’s banquet. They must be crazy. I need to find this person to
avenge myself!”
She tried hard to recall all the details from the party. Since it was an exclusive event, privacy was paramount and only a few cameras were in place. Moreover, this was her first time. meeting the guests, so it was unlikely that they held any grudge against her.
Even if her enemies were among the crowd, they would have caused her greater harm than offering her a love potion. Therefore, she decided that it certainly wasn’t their doing.
She remembered when she was talking to Brandon, a waiter came over…
“Yes, the wine!” She recalled that after drinking that glass of wine, she…
